Adorned with decorations. In a very vast place, cushions and a large number of offering implements were arranged. A grand welcoming ceremony was also prepared. Some were white carriages, and the horses pulling them were also white. The people in the carriage, their clothes, shoes, hats, and all their attire were white, and the flags were also white. Others were all yellow, all red, all blue, and all variegated. In addition, there were elephants adorned with various decorations, all kinds of musical instruments, and limitless dance performances, and so on. Then, the monks also performed activities such as bathing in the river. At that time, the Teacher (Buddha) thought: If I were to come here on foot, the arrogant Shakyas would speak disparagingly. Thinking this, he began to manifest miracles. At that time, countless people from all directions, driven by the roots of past virtues, gathered in that place. Some came out of faith, some were amazed, some were hesitant, and some were persuaded by others, and so on. Although there were various different reasons, most of them had the capacity to realize the Dharma. Then, in the sight of all those people, the Teacher (Buddha) and his retinue clearly appeared in the sky above, abiding, standing, walking, and sleeping in the sky. Various kinds of light radiated from his body. Flames blazed from the lower part of his body, and cold streams of water flowed from the upper part of his body, and the two alternated. There were also lightning, clouds, thunder, rain, flames burning, light shining, and peaceful abiding, these four kinds of miracles were manifested in the four directions. Then, the Bhagavan gathered up those miracles and descended from the sky, which was as high as seven Tala trees. At that time, the monks came down from the sky, which was as high as six Tala trees. In that order, the Bhagavan himself came down from a height equivalent to two Tala trees, and the monks came down from a height equivalent to one Tala tree. Then, when the Buddha descended from the sky, which was as high as seven men, the monks descended from a height equivalent to six men. Descending in this way, when the Bhagavan descended from a height above one man's head,

The monks are on the ground. There, (the Buddha) became radiant with many displays of miraculous power. The king, not recognizing the Blessed One, was informed by the attendant, and with his whole body prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One. O you of vast wisdom, and the all-seeing one (Buddha), (I) prostrate three times at your feet. At the time of birth, the earth shook, and the shade of the Jambudvipa tree never left your body. Then, the Shakyas, disbelieving what the meaning was of the father prostrating to the son, the king said: I prostrated not only now, but also at the very beginning, at the time of birth, when the earth shook and light pervaded, and also when the shade of the Jambudvipa tree did not leave the body. Then, the Blessed One subdued those retinues with his majesty, and sat on the prepared seat in the center of the Sangha of monks. Then, King Suddhodana thought: The Blessed One used to enjoy the happiness of the wealth of the kingdom, but now, having abandoned desires, he lives in hardship, and thinking this, with tears filling his eyes, he asked: In the abodes of immeasurable palaces, living in the father's chamber, how do you live alone in the fearful and desolate places? The Blessed One replied: O lord of men, wherever one is, freed from the bonds of household life, the ten abodes of the noble ones are the places where the Buddhas dwell. Thus he spoke. Like this, there were many questions and answers. The king, starting from the answers to the questions, gave a great Dharma talk. Then, the king was even more pleased, knowing that the prince had attained supreme qualities. The Teacher, knowing the thoughts of all the retinue, taught the Dharma, and seventy-seven thousand Shakyas, including the Shakya prince Sakatada, saw the truth. At that time, Devadatta, completely (aroused or) entangled by anger, said: If I knew such magic, I too could bring the whole world under my control. Some of the Shakyas threatened, some belittled, and stopped him, and Devadatta said nothing more. Similarly, the next day, in the pleasure garden called Brahma-encircled, he taught the Dharma, and sixty-six

Thousands saw the truth. The next morning, in the garden called Rohika, the Buddha preached the Dharma, and fifty-five thousand Shakyas, including Prince Amrita-food, saw the truth. On those two days, Devadatta was also called the previous voice, but the Shakyas stopped him. Thus, on those three days, countless gods and humans attained the fruit of stream-entry, once-returner, non-returner, and Arhat, generated the supreme Bodhicitta, generated the Bodhicitta of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, accumulated the merit to become lords of the gods, abandoned sinful deeds, and so on, each obtaining a miraculous state appropriate to their capacity. Most of those retinues also took refuge in the Buddha, took refuge in the Dharma, and took refuge in the Sangha. Among them, King Shuddhodana did not see the truth, thinking, "Only my son has great power and miracles," and was very arrogant and happy. He thought, "In the past, the Blessed One was worshiped by gods and asuras, but now only humans worship him, and the gods do not," and he was very discouraged. For these two reasons, he did not see the truth. Then, the Blessed One commanded the venerable Maudgalyayana's son to advise King Shuddhodana. The venerable Maudgalyayana's son went to King Shuddhodana, displayed the four postures in the sky, emitted light, showed the twin miracles, and then sat on the prepared seat. Then the king said, "Are there other Shravakas of the Blessed One who have greater miracles and power?" The venerable one replied, "There are very many." At that time, the king's previous arrogance of excessive joy disappeared. At that time, the Blessed One, with worldly compassion, wished to teach the Dharma to the gods. The assembly of gods knew this, and the heavenly craftsmen instantly built and completed the heavenly palace in the Nyagrodha garden. All the great gods, including Indra, gathered, and the four guardians of the world guarded the four gates and adorned it with all the ornaments of offerings. Then, the venerable great Maudgalyayana's son led King Shuddhodana to the Blessed One.
