From then on. The householder reported: World Honored One, please go to Shravasti, and I will support the Sangha of monks for as long as I live. The Buddha said: Is there a monastery there? He reported: No. The Buddha said: Wherever there is a monastery, the monks will come and go and reside. He reported: I will build a monastery no matter what. The World Honored One did not speak, indicating consent. Thirty-ninth Building the Jeta Grove The thirty-ninth, building the Jeta Grove, is: After Anathapindika finished his business in Rajagriha, he came to prostrate at the feet of Shakyamuni Buddha. He reported: Please grant me a monk as an assistant. Shakyamuni Buddha knew that the venerable Shariputra could subdue, so he agreed. The venerable Shariputra also went begging for alms the next day, determined his residence, and walked towards Shravasti. The householder also observed all around the gardens, parks, and forests around Shravasti on the way back, and found that the land suitable for building a monastery was the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, which had countless advantages. The so-called Prince Jeta was the brother of King Prasenajit. After that, Anathapindika went to the residence of Prince Jeta and said: Please give me the grove, I will build the Buddha's monastery there. 16-93 Prince Jeta did not agree. He asked three times, and the third time Prince Jeta said: Even if you cover the entire grove with golden sand, I will not give it up. Anathapindika said: Young man, the value of the grove has been determined, please collect the gold. After that, the two of them argued over determining the value. After that, they went to the judges, and the Four Great Kings transformed into four judges, and they said to the young man: The value has been determined, please collect the gold, this grove belongs to the householder.

He spread gold, covering the entire ground of Jeta Grove. Most of it was covered, but seeing that some places were not covered, he thought, 'Where is there a suitable treasure?' Looking in all directions, King Jetari said, 'Householder, if you regret it, take the gold back. Jeta Grove is mine.' The householder explained the matter in detail, King Jetari thought, 'Alas! The appearance of the Buddha is supreme. This person spends so much wealth for the sake of Jeta Grove, I should also do something.' Thinking, 'Then, please give me this piece of land where gold has not been spread! I will also build a gatehouse.' After discussing this, the householder and the young man also agreed. After that, when they started building the monastery, the non-Buddhists gathered and came to Anathapindika, saying, 'Hey! We have already divided the city. The ascetic Gautama's is Rajagriha, and ours is Shravasti. For the sake of Gautama, do not build a monastery!' When they said this, the householder said to them, 'You may have divided the city, but you have not divided my property, so I will build the Dharma heap that I like most.' Then he went to the king and argued as before. Although the householder defeated them with arguments, they still spoke all kinds of nonsense and would not let him build the monastery as he pleased. Compete in ability with the foremost of Gautama's Shravakas. If he wins, then build it!' When they said this, the householder asked Shariputra. Shariputra knew that there were roots of virtue in the minds of these non-Buddhists, and also knew that taming them depended on himself, so he told the householder to do so, but after seven days. He said to the non-Buddhists, and they discussed it. They decided not to show their ability now, but to make an appointment for the future. Either this person will run away, or he will look for help. If he runs away, it will be over, so for now, let us also look for help!' In this way, they all dispersed, counting the days, and hurriedly looking for help. Among them was a wandering ascetic named Red Eyes, who was very skilled in illusion.
