Eight, and having seen the stupas of the teeth relics in the land of the Nagas. Then, he went to the abode of the thirty-three gods, and the gods, such as Indra, asked, 'Why have you come?' He replied, 'To make the final offering to the teeth relic.' 16-299 Having said that, he took the teeth relic in his hand, gazed at it without blinking, placed it on his head, and scattered and offered it with the powder of the heartwood of sandalwood and serpent. He admonished the gods to be mindful and to practice, and in an instant, he went to Rajagriha. There, he said to the gatekeeper of King Ajatashatru's palace, 'Tell the king that I am waiting by the gate.' When he went inside, the king was asleep. He came out and said, 'The god is sleeping, and if he is awakened, there will be punishment.' He replied, 'Then, when he wakes up, say that Kashyapa has come to announce Nirvana.' Having said that, he went to the south of Rajagriha, to a mountain called Kukutapada, which has three peaks on one base. He established the base on the three peaks, put on the kasaya given by the Buddha, and blessed it so that it would not be destroyed until the teachings of Maitreya flourished. He relinquished the aggregates of life, displayed various miracles, and slept in the lion's posture, entering Nirvana. There, all the gods, including Indra, made offerings with various offerings, and the three peaks of that mountain became one and covered him. At that time, the earth shook, and the gods felt grief in their hearts. King Ajatashatru dreamed that the lineage of his uncle was cut off, and he was very afraid. When he woke up, the gatekeeper reported as before, and he fainted. After being revived with water, he and Ananda ascended Kukutapada Mountain. Again, the peaks of the mountain split into three, and the relics were shown to King Ajatashatru. After making prostrations and offerings, when they were about to cremate it, Ananda said, 'In the future, when Buddha Maitreya attains enlightenment, he will show this relic and kasaya to ninety-nine billion disciples of the Shravakas, and the Shravakas will learn the merits of practice, and thus attain the Arhat state. Therefore, this cannot be burned.' 16-300

Thus reversed, when the king returned, the three mountains also closed together, and the king built a stupa on the top of the mountain. The One Hundred and Twenty-Third, The Ordination of the One with Linen Clothes. The one hundred and twenty-third, the ordination of the one with linen clothes, is: In a past time, in the capital of the king, when the son of a merchant was born from the womb, he was born with linen clothes, so he was known as the one with linen clothes. When he grew up, he gained great faith and thought to make offerings to the Buddha and the Sangha, so he went to the great ocean. After a long time, at that time a great ship full of treasures was successfully built and came to the capital of the king. He hid the treasures and went to the Light Garden, where he saw the venerable Ananda walking and sitting at the door of the fragrant chamber, so he prostrated and said: Venerable, please know. When I make a festival at the age of five, where does the Blessed One reside? The venerable replied: Child, the Blessed One has passed into Nirvana. He also asked about the situation of Shariputra, Maudgalyayana, and Mahakashyapa, and after hearing their stories, his heart was even more grieved. Now I will make offerings to the venerable and the Sangha with five years of festival offerings. Thus, he made immeasurable offerings to all the Sangha for five years. Then, the venerable Ananda said to the one with linen clothes: Child, you have already made material offerings to the teachings of the teacher, now you should make spiritual offerings. He replied: I also want to do that. So Ananda ordained him and gave him the full ordination. Until he died, he was allowed to wear linen clothes. He was also a holder of the scriptures like the venerable Ananda. From the Blessed One, all the sutras held by the two Bhikshu Sanghas, and all the sutras heard and held by the venerable Ananda, were held by him. He became an Arhat with unwavering Dharma, and propagated the three knowledges and the three pitakas. This is also recorded in the Vinaya Minor, which is now translated into Tibetan. And in the biography of the one with linen clothes himself, his birthplace is Shravasti, and the monastery where Ananda wandered is Jeta Grove.
