Having taken it, they met there. When asked about the situation, they replied: The ascetic Gautama has passed away into nirvana for seven years, and these are the flowers offered to his relics. Upon hearing this, an old man said: Ascetics, I should do this and not do that, in order to be liberated. Do what you can do, and do not do what you cannot do. When he said this, the gods obscured the sound so that no one else could hear except Kashyapa. Kashyapa subdued and disciplined the old man with the Dharma, and guided five hundred monks to the Dharma with the teaching of impermanence. At the time when the giants were unable to ignite the fire, the great Kashyapa and his retinue also came to the place of the stupa where the giants wore headdresses. There, they opened the relic box, and with great diligence, they gazed upon and prostrated to the undamaged relics. At that time, there were four great Shravakas near the relics: Kaundinya, Uruvilva, Dashabala Kashyapa, and Maha Kashyapa. At that time, because the great Kashyapa had the power of merit, five hundred excellent fine cloths also arrived there, and together with the previous ones, they were wrapped with a thousand fine cloths and a thousand Dharma robes, and placed in the relic box as before. As the people retreated slightly and sat down, the fire ignited itself. Not long after, it was known that the relics had been cremated. The giants poured milk and perfume from jeweled vases to extinguish the remaining embers of the fire, and when they opened the relic box, everything except the four teeth had become a heap of relics the size of mustard seeds. It is said that the thousand fine cloths and the thousand Dharma robes that were wrapped around it were all burned, and not even ashes remained. Only the Dharma robe that was wrapped innermost on the body, and the Dharma robe that covered the outermost part, were not burned at all, nor were they stained with oil, nor were there any stains. At the moment when the fire was extinguished with milk, four trees with many flowers grew instantly from the midst of the relic ashes: the golden tree, the horse-ton tree, the yellow tree, and the udumbara tree. At that time, Ananda especially

They also made statements, placed the relics in golden urns, put them on precious boxes, and placed them on a high platform in a very spacious place in the center of the city of Kusha, and made offerings with many offerings. One Hundred and Twentieth Section: Dividing the Relics into Eight Parts One Hundred and Twentieth Section: Dividing the Relics into Eight Parts: At that time, the giants of the sinful land said, "It has been seven days since the Teacher passed away, and the relics have also been cremated. We have also gathered four kinds of armies and came near the city of Kusha, and said to the giants of Kusha: 'The Blessed One has been dear and respected to us for a long time. He passed away near your city. Now, please give us a share of the relics We will build stupas in our country and hold festivals.'" The people of Kusha did not agree. They said, "If you don't give it, we will seize it by force." So the hatred intensified. In addition, the nobles of Uluka, who lived in the land of wavering thoughts, the nobles of Rantaka, who lived in the land of loud sounds, the Brahmins of the continent of Abundance, the Shakyas of Serkya, and the Licchavis of Yangpachen also came with armies, as before. King Ajatashatru, as the great Kashyapa had said before, the Brahmin Shayye also did the same, causing him to wake up from his faint and feel a little comfortable. He heard that the others had gone to take the relics, and said, "I will go too." So he deployed the armies and prepared to set off on an elephant. At this time, he remembered the Blessed One and fainted and fell again. When he woke up again, he prepared to set off on a horse, but the situation was still the same. The king could not go, so he sent the Brahmin Shayye with an army and said the same thing as before. They saw many armies gathered in the middle, and the wives, youths, and daughters of the giants of Kusha were also learning archery and other skills. At that time, there was a Brahmin named Brahmavrevo Manyapa, who was virtuous, had dignified words, was always kind and upright, and had great wisdom.
