The lama, illness, and one's own mind are indivisibly and vastly placed in equanimity. This is the first method. Alternatively, the appearance of space is illusory, and in this situation, there has never been a sick person or a causer of sickness. Although non-existent, being sick is like space being sick in a dream. On the basis of being sick, strongly recall the illusion and dream. Eventually, realize that being sick is one's own mind. Without clinging to that either, rest equally in the nature of illusion. This is the second method. Alternatively, the appearance of space is like an illusion, appearing even though it doesn't exist. Thinking that this appearance is created by the mind, forcefully press down the upper air. The illnesses go down from within the Dharma origin of the navel. The bottom of the Dharma origin becomes longer and longer, extending far beneath the earth. The illness also goes down from within that. Visualize both disappearing like a rainbow into the earth. This is the third method, which is a former oral instruction. Thus, there are three ways to use illness as a path. There are also three ways to use demons as a path: Knowing that the harm of demons is a spur to virtue, that it is the grace of the lama, praying to the lama, and cultivating the state of equanimity in the self-luminous emptiness of the lama, the harm-doer, and one's own mind. Alternatively, the demon who inflicts harm also appears even though it doesn't exist, and although it appears, it is not established. Likewise, the act of harming, such as injury, suffering, and misery, and the place where harm arises, such as sentient beings like oneself, also appear even though they don't exist, and although they appear, they are not established, like an illusion, like a dream. At the end of strongly training the thought that holding this to be true is a mistake, look at the very nature of that dimly appearing harm-doer and rest in vastness. Alternatively, meditate on the Dharma origin and the six realms as before, and visualize the one appearing as a harm-doer in front. With the mind fixed on the thought of illusion, along with the entering breath, also draw the demon in through the nostrils and bring it into the Dharma origin of the navel. The Dharma origin becomes extremely vast. Holding the breath and churning, the mouth of the Dharma origin closes, leaving no place to escape. That harm-doer also wanders through all the places of the six realms, seeing and experiencing the suffering of each, believing in karma, pacifying the mind of harm, and thinking of having bodhicitta.
