Tra (Tra bsam). The place where the five Hums (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हूँ, Sanskrit Romanized: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) gather is called the Stupa of Five Heaps. At this time, contemplate everything as white. Contemplate the stupa in this way, and combine the differences in aspirations such as "Emaho, it seems like a dream" as before, and it becomes the supreme secret instruction of dream illusion. 11-575 Third, it is the fifth of the five sections made during the dream state above. It comes from the saying in the small letters of the secret instruction: "Mixing sleep and appearance, or mixing dreams and sleep." That is, now that you know it is a dream when you are awake, you also know it in the dream, and this in turn benefits the waking time. At this time, practice the secret instruction of entering the clear light of sleep. Here, in the old secret instruction text, it exists in a hidden and unclear way, and later scholars have not understood it. Those five letters are the same as the previous throat letters, and there is a practice of post-destruction contemplation, which is not the throat letter, but should be practiced in the heart. The reason is that the throat letter here appears as A (Tibetan: ཨ་), and elsewhere it appears as Om (Tibetan: ༀ་). Here it is said to be absorbed into the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हूँ, Sanskrit Romanized: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) syllable, so it is clear that it is the heart letter. Therefore, the so-called practice of bliss is also the meaning of practicing the clear light of sleep. In the heart, the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हूँ, Sanskrit Romanized: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) syllable is surrounded by Anuttara (Tibetan: ཨ་ནུ་ཏ་ར), and after practicing with the vase breathing for many days, through the light of the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हूँ, Sanskrit Romanized: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) syllable, practice the post-destruction contemplation of absorbing all the outer and inner worlds, and you will master both the clear light of day and the clear light of deep sleep. Then, when entering the clear light, combine the aspiration of mixing with death, and as soon as you rise from non-discrimination, without being interrupted by other discriminations, rise as the body of Vajrasattva or the Wisdom Dakini. For everything outer and inner, practice the aspiration of illusion. Also make the aspiration of mixing with the bardo. So it is said. However, the secret instruction of dream and bardo, which relies on the five letters, seems to be the general rule of the Marpa tradition inserted here. Mutual supplementation is not unreasonable. However, the rule of this tantra itself is to rely on the secret instruction of the stupa vase breathing, and additionally add the contemplation of holding the essence and post-destruction, thereby entering the clear light and rising as the deity body. 11-576

Learn the illusory-like practice. Having become accustomed to it, grasp the clear light of sleep, and learn to arise as the deity in dreams. Having become accustomed to that, learn to mix all of that with the aspirations of the bardo. The instructions on the illusory nature of the bardo will become unsurpassed. So, regarding those yogas of the completion stage, how are the distinctions between the pervasive and the pervaded? For example, in meditating on the bull's hoof print, if one adds the two branches of the inconceivable and the path of great desire, the karma mudra, then the path of that very moment becomes complete. The bull's hoof print causes the winds and mind to enter the central channel, transforming that very awareness of clarity and emptiness into a special experience of melting bliss, and gathers the winds that have not gathered, causes those that have gathered to dissolve, loosens the knots of the channels, and so forth. Most of the benefits come from the karma mudra. By cultivating the wisdom of experience in the realm of non-conceptualization, it is transferred and stabilized from higher to higher, which is the inconceivable. Similarly, one should apply the same reasoning to the cow's milk, the water tree spike, and the stupa vase. Whichever of the four pervaded ones one meditates on, since those two pervade all, they are called pervasive. Here, too, there are the path of decisiveness and the path of order. The first is that, having first gone through the generation stage, one cultivates and enhances the benefits of the pervasive sleep, focusing on only one of the four pervaded ones. The wisdom of heat will arise, and then by combining conduct with the proximate cause, the result will be made manifest. This is the method of not having to meditate on all four pervaded ones in order by one person. The second is that the instructions of the four pervaded ones are combined as conditions for one person, that is, the bull's hoof print causes the winds to stop in the central channel, the cow's milk causes the coarse fierce fire to blaze and generates the bliss-warmth of the flowing bodhicitta, the water tree spike first loosens the knots of the channels, then opens them in the middle, and finally liberates them. The stupa vase causes the subtle and coarse stages of the elements to dissolve into the blissful bindu within the central channel. Such bliss-emptiness wisdom is called clear light. The instructions of the coiled Naga king are included within those four, that is, the inner fire offering and the cow's milk.
