Manifesting in an instant, benefiting sentient beings through various means such as the twelve deeds, the place where one attains 9-195 Buddhahood is called the Dense Array of Akanishta. It is said that it is located in the ocean of the world, the place where the Buddha Vairochana resides in the palm of the hand, like a great snowy mountain ocean. The Sutra of Lanka states: "In the desire realm and the formless realm, Buddhas do not manifest to attain Buddhahood. In the Akanishta of the form realm, you, free from desire, attain Buddhahood there. Abandoning the pure abodes, Akanishta is a supreme and delightful abode, where one attains complete and perfect enlightenment, an emanation attains Buddhahood here." Therefore, Akanishta is in the form realm, it is said to be none of the five pure abodes, but above the pure abodes, there is the place where the son of the gods, Great Powerful One, resides. Moreover, it is not merely an appearance for the sake of the disciples, so one cannot determine the direction, size, and so on, some holy ones say. I once asked the venerable lama what the essence of this place is? He said, "The unceasing power of the pure self-appearance of the mind, appearing as a pure land, that itself is Akanishta." All of the above is said according to the capacity of each disciple, the ultimate meaning, I think, is the latter. This is also in accordance with the scriptures, Nagarjuna said in the Praise of Dharmadhatu: "The supreme abode of the Great Powerful One, Akanishta, that itself is extremely beautiful, the three wisdoms merged into one, I praise that which has become one." It means that the three wisdoms are blended into one with mirror-like wisdom, Akanishta and the meaning of the place of the Great Powerful One are said to be actually real. The Compendium of Vehicles also says: "Because there is no self-grasping, there is no difference in place." It is also said in this way. 9-196 Third, regarding body, wisdom, and activity, first, regarding body, divided into essence and classification, the first is: transcending purity, self, bliss, and permanence, the other shore. That is, the self-nature of the mind is completely pure, formerly it was the basis of habitual tendencies, but at the time of attaining Buddhahood it no longer serves as the basis of habitual tendencies, therefore possessing two purities, it is the other shore of pure and supreme, and the

Since it is so, it is the nature of being stained by habitual patterns. Because it is not controlled by conceptual thought, it is the supreme "I." By pacifying all the elaborations of conceptual thought of self and non-self, it becomes the master. Although the conceptual thoughts of sound, meaning, and appearance cease from the eighth consciousness onward, in the appearance of non-conceptualization, the appearance of the container and its contents arises, which is the subtlest suffering, the aggregate of the nature of mind. When its cause, the ground of ignorance and habitual patterns, ceases, all suffering and its causes cease, therefore it is supreme bliss. Because there is no increase or decrease of samsara and nirvana, by attaining the ultimate meditation of equality of existence and peace, and realizing the equality of samsara and nirvana, just as it is impossible for space to become existence, therefore it is reaching the other shore of supreme permanence. In which aspect are these four perfections complete? It is the body of the Buddha, that is, they are completely present in any state of the body. Secondly, the classification: For one's own benefit, it is the Dharmakaya, the ultimate truth body; for the benefit of others, it is the Rupakaya, the conventional truth body, or the three bodies that will be discussed below, or the Svabhavikakaya and the Jnanadharmakaya enumerated separately. Although there are establishments of four bodies and so on, here we will discuss the three bodies, and others will also be understood in the course of explanation. Saying that the Rupakaya is the Buddha, and saying that it is not in the Suvarnaprabhasa Sutra, etc., and saying that there is no Buddha by some, these are provisional, definitive, and ultimately definitive meanings, as the wise ones who are skilled in the essential points say. Regarding this, the nature of all dharmas is emptiness, free from all elaborations, having the characteristic of being naturally pure, this is the Svabhavikakaya. The wisdom that sees it in this way, having the characteristic of being temporarily pure, this is the Dharmakaya. These two are successively what is to be abandoned and what is to be realized, and they are also the object and the subject, therefore they are collectively called the Dharmakaya. Regarding this, the Uttaratantra says: unconditioned, indivisible, not inverted, purified of obscurations, naturally luminous, having these five characteristics. For these latter two bodies, dividing them into the appearance body and the reality body, one's own system has already been explained elsewhere, and should be understood there. What truly exists is reality, and what is imputed is appearance.
