It is pure. By striking at the key points of those, those Buddhas will bless, and by contemplating those as the Five Buddhas, the Five Buddhas will bless, and one must generate faith in those as the self-nature of the Tathagatas. If one generates a mind of disparagement towards this, thereby causing suffering to the body, then as soon as that action is completed, it will immediately become a root downfall. Then, is it not permissible for the supreme yogis to perform the fasting and ascetic practices described in the Action Tantra? It is permissible, for those are for the purpose of accomplishing siddhis, for the sake of pleasing the worldly deities. Practicing asceticism is not to cause suffering with a mind of disparagement towards the body. In some commentaries on the root downfalls, it is said that killing oneself is a major downfall, while others are minor. Some scholars say that this is a great mistake, because after one dies, there is no basis for generating downfalls. This statement is not correct, because the vows of mantra are taken for as long as space exists. If one says that the basis of the vows is only this body, then at the time of death, one must think that the mantra vows have been broken. If that were the case, then the accomplishment of supreme siddhis in the bardo would also become impossible, and so on, many errors would occur in succession. Therefore, that is also clearly a root downfall. Furthermore, merely contemplating the body as impure does not become a root downfall. As it is said in the Vajrasekhara Sutra: "Those who possess the seven attachments should be abandoned by contemplating ugliness." And in the Compendium of Practices Lamp, it is also said: "Even for royal power, one should contemplate the perception of suffering." So, isn't it necessary to contemplate impurity and the perception of suffering? Generally, those are the conditions of conventional truth, so it is possible to contemplate them. However, if one thinks of disparaging based on those reasons, as in the Hinayana, then it will definitely become a fault belonging to this root downfall, and the quote from the Vajrasekhara Sutra does not apply to us, because in the Yoga Tantra, there is no complete vow of bliss. Because we do not want root downfalls other than those of the Sutra system. Also, some people eat less because they are full of food and their afflictions increase, so that afflictions do not arise, there is no fault in that.

Therefore, to say this, even self-fabricated teachings are not permissible. If that is the case, for such kinds, it is necessary to allow from the exhaustion of taming the extremes, rather than prohibiting it. Considering food as the root of afflictions is the doctrine of some foolish heretics. Reducing food without subduing afflictions, in the Vinaya, is like a lustful monk beating his own genitals, to which the king said, "This is foolish, because the harm was done by another, and the beating is of another." You are also committing the same mistake. This behavior, which is inconsistent with the Vinaya and contrary to the Mantras, is in no way permissible. Ninth, self-nature purity means that all dharmas are empty by nature. To doubt this, that is, to merely understand the nominalities and then become distrustful, if it exceeds two periods, it is a root downfall. However, when listening to and contemplating the scriptures that explain emptiness, if one focuses on emptiness and thinks that the meaning of the scripture does not seem to be this way, such doubts are not prohibited. Because one's own awareness mind is the Tathagatagarbha, therefore, the mere clarity of mind that appears in these five aggregates that appear upon it is the cause of the Tathagata's wisdom. Therefore, the purification of the five aggregates into the five families, etc., this way of purification is the purification of each deity, which is the second purification. The nature of the mind, which has always abided in the essence of great bliss, is the purification of self-awareness, which is the third purification. To doubt these is the same as what was said before. That is, for this, merely arising the understanding that all dharmas are empty, and then clinging to them as not empty. One who has not heard of emptiness will not fall into downfall, so those who are conceitedly clever and attached to terminology are likely to make this mistake. The same can be inferred for the other two purifications. Tenth, the evil objects here refer to those who have become human beings and slander the Guru, harm the Three Jewels, and denigrate the Mantra Vehicle. If one says welcome to them, associates with them, helps them with body and speech, and bestows loving-kindness, merely the karmic connection will become a root downfall. If one sees that there is a special need, such as being able to enter the Buddha's teachings, or being able to prevent many harms to sentient beings, then allowing this is blameless.
