It is said to those who are without existence that samsara, like a speckled rope appearing as a snake, is an appearance of non-existence. Like a rope, the mind is without the two aspects of depth and clarity. Like a person with blurred vision perceiving a snake, those with delusion experience samsara. By abandoning blurred vision, one sees the nature of the rope, which is the manifestation of nirvana. By nature, the rope is not a snake; the rope abides in its own nature. Just as it is manifested without blurred vision, the nature of samsara is nirvana. It is manifested when the two obscurations are removed. The very absence of inherent existence in samsara is the meaning of nirvana by nature. All the collections of the Great Vehicle agree on this point. Here, the profound explanation of the nature of samsara is also this very meaning. Samsara is also called the Dharmakaya of inherent existence. Whatever appears as samsara is the clarity that appears without the cessation of the clear aspect of all its potential. This is the meaning of nirvana by nature. It appears in the final turning of the wheel sutras and in the Mantrayana vehicle. That clarity is also the mandala of the dependent and the depended upon. The mind that perceives clarity is the nature of great bliss without interruption. This is the intention of this unsurpassable vehicle alone. 9-377 The nature of clarity is the Nirmanakaya, and the nature of bliss is the Sambhogakaya. These two aspects of nirvana by nature are clarity. If it is not the nirvana of the Dharmakaya of inherent existence, then the obscurations are not merely illusions but truly exist, and therefore cannot be removed by the path. If this nirvana of the mandala of inherent clarity does not exist, then all defilements have already been removed. It is neither defilement nor inherent existence, and there is no other wisdom. Therefore, upon attaining Buddhahood, the mind will cease. If you say it is not so because many newly arisen wisdoms are attained, according to you, since those are not inherent existence, those wisdoms will have a time of cessation. For whatever has a beginning of the same kind also has an end, because it is pervasive. If so, according to your system, do the qualities such as powers exist from the time of sentient beings or do they cease? It is true. But we are the inherent existence of qualities.

In a manner free from confusion, Therefore, it is acknowledged as being inherently present. It is not believed that similar continuums have a beginning, And because it is so present, it is not necessary to acknowledge its actual existence, thus there are no two faults. So what is it? It is merely that when the obscurations of ignorance of the mind and the inability to benefit others are purified, With that clarity, it is knowing, and it is capable of accomplishing that. It is not like newly creating a cause for generating qualities, From which qualities arise that are not the same as the nature and essence of the mind, like wearing earrings on the ears. For example, one does not acknowledge that gold with rust is beautiful, Whether it is beautiful or not depends on the perception of others. When it is free from rust, the beauty that appears is not newly arisen, Because the nature of gold never gives rise to the essence of rust, therefore beauty is the 9-378 nature of gold, and seeing beauty is newly arisen. Similarly, when the mind is with defilements, one does not say that it possesses the three qualities of wisdom, compassion, and power. When it is free from defilements, the ability of those three is also not newly arisen from its nature, because the three qualities of wisdom, compassion, and power are also the one and only mind, because the mind is not newly arisen. However, acting in this way is newly attained. Therefore, when the obscurations of that very mind are removed, It is said that one has attained that ability. What has been said in this way is also the view of the black practitioner teacher, Appearance is mind, and mind is great bliss, that is, In the "Essence of Secrets," it says, "The wisdom of great bliss is manifestly called fire." Following this scripture, those are the supreme wisdom, residing within and without, The three realms, with and without cause, apart from this there is no other. Thus, it is considered that the three realms are not other than the mind, and the mind is also established as wisdom. At the time of the two truths, distinguishing the difference between forms and great bliss is also, In the "Doha" of the black practitioner himself, it says, "In the midst of emptiness and non-emptiness, Alas! The ignorant do not see anything. The co-emergent, the only one, is present, the black practitioner fully knows." Thus, in the ultimate meaning of the temporary, there is great bliss and there is no grasper or grasped.
