Even at that time, five *bre* (a unit of volume) of grape wine in the Kashmiri style were prepared every day. Many fruits from India and Nepal were preserved to prevent spoilage. Panditas, ministers, merchants, and others frequently made offerings, so fresh fruits from India were constantly available. It is said that after the lord Tri Rel, there were no offerings more abundant than these. In the daily gatherings, hundreds of listeners of the Dharma were constantly present, and eight hundred mantra practitioners and twelve hundred monks frequently gathered. There was no larger tantric monastery than this in the three times. In the past, when the Dharma was flourishing, the Sutra and Tantra practitioners were different. Because Tantric Dharma required great offerings and wealth, ordinary people could not accomplish it. Furthermore, in the past, the largest gathering of mantra practitioners was at Rangö Khukpa, but even there, no more than seven hundred practitioners gathered at one time. The special gatherings included all the great people, such as all the members of the Jowo Tsadpo family, all the wealthy people such as Zhang Drakchen, Trangti Wangchuk Drak, Yuthok Darpo, and all the great doctors. Zhang Tsepongwa, Drechenpo, An Könchok Dorje, Takwa Kaché, and all the great logicians; Zhang Sangha, Tsangtang Öpo, Gang Indra, Nur Nyima, Kün Dorpo, Gyalong Chö Drak, Tsang Yangdak Bar, Ngok Dodé, Shong Dorje Gyaltsen, Kyura Akyap, Ngo Tro Yöntshul, and all the Geshes of the New Schools; Zur Horpo, Yangkeng Lama, Jangchub Bar, and all the great Nyingma masters; Barek Lotsawa, Dyal Lo, and many other translators. Almost all the Geshes and great people of that time paid their respects. Leaving aside other offerings, just the scriptures that were received included sixty complete sets of the *Dödé* (Sutra) and more than two hundred parts of the *Bumcha*. Needless to say, there was an abundance of ordinary wealth. The names of the great student and the ways in which they served can be learned in detail from the words of Ra Yeshe Sengé.

Fifth, the greatness of his deeds and accomplishments: The meritorious deeds he performed in India and Nepal have been mentioned above. As for Tibet, in the Dharma wheel of Samye Monastery, a conflict arose between the Ba and Rak clans, causing the central hall and all the cold rooms to be burned down. After about thirty years, due to the great stinginess of the patrons, no one undertook the restoration. Because the Ba and Rak factions did not reconcile, there was no one to manage the monastery, and it became almost deserted except for a few caretakers. At that time, Ra Lotsawa intended to carry out the restoration. When he arrived at Balam Kla, the patron [Pe]kar appeared to the caretaker in a real form, saying, "Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, something terrible will happen here, and it is not possible to stay here." After saying this, he fled, which was witnessed firsthand. While wondering who it was, three days later, Ra Lotsawa arrived. Knowing through his clairvoyance, he asked the caretaker, "Where has your patron gone?" Then he also summoned the patron and gave him instructions and vows. He cut down a large pine forest in Olka and pulled the timber up from the river. Except for a slight pull with ropes, there was no difficulty like a fish swimming upstream. The restoration of Samye Monastery cost about one million khal of grain. In three summers, all the work, including the wall paintings, was completed. He reconciled the Ba and Rak factions and made many vows, restoring the monastic community to its former state. The Yeru Tsangram Lhakhang on the banks of the river was also very dilapidated and damaged. He restored all the main halls and cloisters, costing one million khal of grain, and also gathered the scattered monks. In his later years, a rosary made of turquoise flowers strung together, consisting only of turquoise beads, called "Spemo Che," if hung from the top of the flagpole of a thirty-five-story building, would almost touch the ground. In addition, countless silks, satins, armor, weapons, mules, and horses were distributed separately to the monastic communities of Tsang, such as Ngurmig, Jeda, Kyutang, Nyantso, Changra, Shakyang, and Rengul, and to the monastic communities of U-Tsang, such as Gyal Lhakhang, as expenses for teaching the Dharma, offerings to the monastic community, and offerings to the temple.
