Many who attained accomplishments also appeared. Sword resurrection, elixirs, etc., can be accomplished through years of practice, and there is no way that even minor things like pacification cannot be accomplished in six months. Many Vidyadharas of the underground, above ground, etc., also appeared. Without receiving the empowerment of Yamāntaka (Tibetan: གཤིན་རྗེ་གཤེད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: यमान्तक, Sanskrit Romanization: Yamāntaka, Literal Chinese meaning: Yama's Death), one should not recite mantras together in the same house. If recited, the body of the one who has not received the empowerment will immediately burn, or dry up, or be destroyed. Therefore, mantra reciters are said to recite alone. At that time, in the south, two sons of merchants named Ara and Sara received the empowerment of Yamāntaka (Tibetan: གཤིན་རྗེ་གཤེད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: यमान्तक, Sanskrit Romanization: Yamāntaka, Literal Chinese meaning: Yama's Death) from a single teacher, and at dawn, they recited one hundred and eight mantras in front of the painted image. After about a year, the one named Ara, while doing business in the shop, experienced a lightness of body and a joyful mind, abiding in samadhi. There, he went to a distant place, and to prevent being robbed, he was captured by four deceitful robbers. When bound with ropes, the ropes broke merely upon remembering the mantra. The iron shackles also melted like water. There, remembering the shop, he arrived at the shop. Seeing a treasure on the road, out of compassion, he called those robbers and gave them whatever they wanted from the treasure. The son Sara, one evening, took a stick and went to herd the livestock. There, the sound of mantras and light emanated from his body. Waving the stick, fire blazed. Holding it and driving the livestock, fire also blazed from the horns of the livestock. Returning home, as he approached the house, a voice came from the sky, saying: "Do this and this remaining part of the ritual." Having done so, he and the livestock transformed into bodies endowed with miraculous powers. For twelve years, he displayed many rare illusory arts, and finally said he was going to the summit of Mount Meru and disappeared without a trace. This story serves as an example. Before that, the Dharma cycles of Yamāntaka (Tibetan: གཤིན་རྗེ་གཤེད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: यमान्तक, Sanskrit Romanization: Yamāntaka, Literal Chinese meaning: Yama's Death) were not scattered and spread to sentient beings without fortune, but flourished only among those with fortune. The third period, called the "harmful period," is said to be about five hundred years, but this seems uncertain. The meaning of "harmful" is: taming specifically for those with fortune.
