Regarding the joy arising from the knowable, the wisdom body, a branch of the illusory body, and also the subsequent attainment of illusion have been explained. The illusory body has twelve similes, of which the three main similes are: Like the reflection in a mirror, the illusory body is represented. The various colors are like a rainbow, pervasive like the moon in water. Thus it is said. In general, whatever a yogi focuses on, he should regard it as an illusion. It means that although it appears, it is not actually true, and one needs to realize it as an illusion, which is necessary in both meditative and post-meditative states. However, these similes here are not merely applied to negate reality, but are applied to the individual characteristics of the wisdom body. That is, just as the reflection in a mirror appears in an instant, the deity or mandala is also perfected in an instant. Just as an image appears in a clear mirror, and even when it appears, it does not depart from the mirror, so too, from the co-emergent bliss and emptiness, it appears as the deity body, and even after it has appeared, it is not separated from the experience of bliss and emptiness. Just as a rainbow appears with clear colors from water droplets and light, although there is no gross earth body, the shape and color are complete and unmixed from the subtle wind-mind. Although there is no gross earth body, there is a subtle one. Like the moon in water, one moon appears and pervades all the rivers, so too, one wisdom body is able to rejoice in various appearances. Having understood this, the dream body is taken as an example, and all the clear light bodies such as the intermediate state, in order to be completely purified and trained, one must practice this path. That is, one must purify the attachment to the subtle appearances that are to be purified by the illusory body, which is purified by relying on the methods of dream and intermediate state. As it is said: Conventional truth is illusion, the enjoyment body is also that, that is the Gandharva being, the Vajra body is also that. Thus it is said. The former oral instruction masters also thought that the basis for training the illusory body was the dream. The terms dream enjoyment body and intermediate state enjoyment body are also based on this. In the dream, the deity body appears as unreal and illusory, and based on this, all the appearances of the waking state can be regarded as illusion. At that time, when emptiness and illusion appear in meditation, in the post-meditation state
