Not counted. The letter U signifies both long and short. Therefore, these four letters, Ha, A, U, and Ma, must be definitely combined into three groups. Among them, the first group is A, U, and Ma. The second group is A and Āḥ (ཨཿ), with a strong accent mark. The third group is Ha, Āū (ཨཱུ་), and Ma. Moreover, Oṃ (ༀ, Tibetan) is the letter combined with Aṃ (ཨཾ, Tibetan), meaning with a nasal sound. What is combined with the long sound is the letter Āḥ (ཨཱཿ, Tibetan), which has a long sound and a strong accent mark. What is combined with both Aṃ (ཨཾ, Tibetan) and the long sound is the letter Hūṃ (ཧཱུཾ, Tibetan), because it has both a long vowel and a nasal sound. The combination of qualities is: the A letter here sees the U letter there, and the A letter itself becomes the quality of U, turning into O. And so on, A is the same, just like it becomes a long sound here, and Ha without a vowel is combined on top of the Āū (ཨཱུ་, Tibetan) letter there. Among these, U and A are truly removed, and although the latter Āū (ཨཱུ་, Tibetan) letter is not removed, its body is not visible, so it is the same as being removed. In this way, the root letters of Oṃ (ༀ, Tibetan) and A are both short A, and although Ha is lifeless, it also arises from the weakening of the sound of U, so all three letters are contained in short A. Therefore, all scriptures and words are contained in short A, and short A itself manifests and produces all words. Just like the example, from the mind of enlightenment, which is the union of luminosity and wind represented by short A, arise wind and the objects of conceptual thought, etc. {When cyclic existence is reversed, all those that arise will also dissolve into it.} Therefore, A is not the same as other letters because of its different forms, and it is also not different because it is mixed into the pervader. Similarly, luminosity combined with wind and these three realms cannot be said to be itself or other. Just for that reason. Any letter, whether it is the previously mentioned Āli Kāli, or any words and phrases that manifestly turn towards that root letter, as well as the mantra of the female, that is, the solitary Mother Goddess, the mantra of the male, that is, the solitary Father, and the mantra of the hermaphrodite, that is, the union, and the realm or origin of language such as "having bhū," etc., and so on, conditions and forms, etc., these all arise from the meaning of those three letters,

Observe. Right at the nostrils above, in the manner of having the functions of the three channels—left, right, and central—the nature of wind arises. Below, it descends in the form of dust, mental strength, and darkness, in the manner of elements (Tibetan: ཁམས་). Having understood this, with the wisdom of yoga samadhi, through the recitation of the three syllables (seed syllables), the wind and elements are definitely to be combined into the indestructible short A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཐུང་) within the central channel. Thus, the spoken mantras, all these words, arise from the nature of insubstantial luminosity. The second detailed explanation, the object of the meaning of the mantra, is: Those coarse and subtle winds are closely visualized and clearly become the complete form of the deity's body, which is the stage of the illusory body and the deity's body of union. Wind is the actual object of visualization of the deity's body, and the bliss of luminosity and mind isolation is also the wind itself visualized as the deity of bliss, which is the result of Vajra recitation. In the stage of the generation stage, the deity's body and bliss are artificial, and in the completion stage, before obtaining mind isolation, even if there is an unexamined deity's body and bliss, because it is not realized that it is the same nature as the wind, so from the aspect of visualizing the wind as the deity's body, it is only aspiration practice, not actual. The third detailed explanation, becoming the symbol of the mantra, is: With the symbol of the three syllables (seed syllables), it is necessary to understand the three of wind entering, abiding, and rising, and the three of bliss, clarity, and emptiness, the suchness abiding. Moreover, by actually experiencing the three suchnesses of example, the addition and defamation to the characteristic of the nature of reality abiding will be cut off. Some examples say: "The characteristic of nature recitation." The meaning is: Although it needs to be explained like the previous meaning, it seems incorrect because this is not an explanation of the meaning of recitation. In the meantime, the sutra says: "Nameless and unspeakable." And so on, the sutra explanation of the ultimate Vajra recitation is made, this is the supreme Bodhicitta. The three become one, there is no going and no coming, no cessation, extremely peaceful, etc., as stated above. In the Compendium of Practices, that quote is also cited, but it is not cited here, because at this time the detailed explanation of the ultimate meaning is: With A (Tibetan: ཨ) etc., the luminous wisdom spoken by the symbol of short A (Tibetan: ཨ་ཐུང་).
