Although all appearances actually arise, their essence is solely the wisdom body of the completion stage. Therefore, the completion that possesses the aspect of generation is given the name of union of generation and completion or the union of the two stages. As it is said in the Vajra Garland, "Yoga beyond yoga, one's self transforms into great yoga, Vajradhara and the dakinis, whatever yoga is that itself." Therefore, although it is not the actual generation stage, the completion stage that possesses all the aspects and powers of the generation stage is called the union of the two stages. This can be applied to many other dharmas of union, such as: Samsara is also it, Nirvana is also it, Affliction is also it, Purification is also it. One should not say this, because these are extremely contradictory. Twenty-second, pure and impure union: Similar to the deity's union body that is completely purified of afflictions, here it is like the illusory body of the third stage. What is known as the impure deity body, as well as the Thusness of the Buddha being pure and the Thusness of samsara being impure, and so on. Apart from the mere appearance of sentient beings' minds, the Vajra body and Thusness of the state are not distinguished by any impure distinctions, and whatever is realized is the union. Twenty-third, the union of form and formlessness: From the Form Body up to samsara, holding these as having form, and from the Dharma Body up to non-entity, holding these as being without form, by abandoning these two concepts, the yogi who realizes peace, that is, supreme bliss, can be established as formless because of the great bliss being free from elaboration, and can also be established as having form because of all aspects. That is the attainment of the union of the two. In some commentaries, these are combined with the seven limbs such as union, etc., as appropriate, but in general, these seven limbs are definitely included within the qualities of union. However, in the root texts and commentaries of the Noble Teachings section, the term "seven limbs" is not used. The root for establishing the term "seven limbs" is the "Joining Practice" composed by Yeshe Zhab.

It is said that it is like this. In this way, some predecessors made each verse into individual points. It is called "Twenty-one Points of Union." Some also distinguish twenty-three kinds, and so on. In this way, these are not establishing each one as a different union, but rather saying that the complete wisdom of the stages of union possesses all these characteristics, so the boundaries of the characteristics are twenty-one or twenty-three kinds. These, not to mention the wisdom of the non-learner, are also possessed in the path of the learner, so it is a common characteristic of all unions. Briefly explaining the difference between the learner and the non-learner. Second, briefly explaining the difference between the learner and the non-learner is: "Thus abiding yogi, abides in the stages of union, he sees the all-knowing one, is called the holder of various things." It means that the yogi who abides in the qualities of union in this way abides in the stages of the learner's union, because he practices the wisdom conduct of union, and the qualities increase more and more, seeing the suchness of the great bliss of the all-knowing complete Buddha, who knows all aspects, and ultimately accomplishing the self-nature body and dharma body of the non-learner's union, that is the ultimate luminosity, manifesting the true boundary, and that ultimate great bliss holds the forms of all samsara and nirvana, so it is also called the enjoyment body and emanation body, the ultimate pure illusory body, the great Vajradhara's wisdom body. That suchness and the holder of various things, apart from the difference in names, have no difference in essence, so it is union. Moreover, until the ultimate state is attained, the luminosity of the meaning of union is merely the unchanging great bliss born together, but there are still extremely subtle dharmas of the three, white, red, and wind, so there is also a small part of change in bliss. Therefore, the so-called all aspects are merely the existence of extremely many forms, and it is not holding all aspects without remainder. But the non-learner's union does not have the accumulation of the three, white, red, and wind.
