Since it is not incompatible with the conduct of coarse behavior, there is no need to doubt whether it is the general characteristic of union. Eighth, union with remainder and without remainder: liberation from the conceptualization of the presence or absence of the remainder of the three, karma, affliction, and suffering, that is, in whatever place, all appearances of samsara are originally unestablished, and realizing them as unestablished, therefore there is no conceptualization with remainder, and the appearance of the wheel of the mandala is continuous, and constantly engaging in benefiting beings in the realm of samsara, therefore it should not be called without remainder either, such absence of conceptualization is union. Ninth, union of the two selflessnesses: wherever, the selflessness of person called the selflessness of person, and the selflessness of phenomena called the selflessness of phenomena, their essence is without difference, that is, the one wisdom that is never stained by all elaborations, realizing it as such, therefore, liberation from the two conceptualizations that hold onto the two selflessnesses as distinct, that is the characteristic of union. Tenth, illusory body and clear light union: {In the transformation of words [missing], this saying appears easy to understand: the order of knowing it, self-blessing and clear light knowing, those only gathered, this is the order of union.} That is, entering into the experiential instruction practice of that nature, and also through the knowledge of this experience, in sequential order, first obtaining the order of self-blessing, the impure illusory body alone, then knowing the order of clear light, without distinction, then those only gathered, that is, obtaining the gathering of self-blessing and clear light essence as one, this is the order of union, that is, the main characteristic of the order of union is this. The so-called those only gathered refers to contemplating the illusory body and clear light as only being one in nature, otherwise, the illusory body that must be manifested in sequence is only impure, and the illusory body that is established as gathered here is only pure. Eleventh, ball dissolution union: holding oneself as the ball that has become the essence of great bliss, and all appearances becoming great bliss and oneself dissolving into it, that is.

Then, to destroy. Through that sequence, one enters emptiness, and similarly, abides in that emptiness. Then, the three—arising with whatever appears—also become equal in the realm of ultimate reality. Entering, abiding, and arising are merely constructs of the mind. Because the nature of all phenomena and beings has been primordially, constantly, and immutably abiding in great bliss. Realizing that there is no difference in the nature of entering, abiding, and arising is union. Here, although it seems that there are two points—the union of completion and destruction, and the equality of entering, abiding, and arising—by applying the characteristics of completion and destruction to entering, abiding, and arising, it should be understood as the equality of completion and destruction that possesses these three characteristics. Twelfth, the union of the two truths: The phenomena of cyclic existence, the conventional, the apprehended and the apprehender, are like illusions. The wisdom of ultimate reality, free from elaboration, great bliss, each of their respective aspects, after knowing these characteristics, in their nature, the conventional does not exist apart from the ultimate. And the very way the conventional nature abides is truly mingled and abides in the ultimate. That itself is the ground of union. To realize it in that way is explained as the sequence of union. Thirteenth, the union of entering and arising: Focusing single-pointedly on suchness, and arising in the appearance of limitless mandalas, such as deity forms, is not merely alternating. Rather, one constantly focuses on suchness and constantly abides in the deity form. This, although appearing as the aspect of arising and entering, is union because it is liberated from arising and entering. Because both the deity form and the wisdom of bliss and emptiness are continuous, it is inexhaustible. It is the abode or ground of yogis. Fourteenth, the union of sleeping and waking: In this context of union, sleeping and waking, abandoning those two ordinary states, constantly abiding in the sleep of great bliss, and constantly being awake because various kinds of knowledge enter into all phenomena, this shows the union that is separate from ordinary sleeping and waking. In the context of union, when there is a special need, sleeping.
