If appearing in between is the middle, then what appears between attainment and appearance must also be the middle. Therefore, as most commentaries, Chaglo, and Shubu, etc., believe, the object of realization of the meaning's clear light, the great bliss of the Dharmadhatu, is not the first to appear because it is free from elaboration and transcends time, and because it is the nature of primordially self-perfected Dharma. It is like the first appearance of all Dharmas, or it does not appear in the middle, that is, it does not reside in the middle dependent on place and time, but dwells as the life force of all in a way that pervades everything, but because beings cannot see it, it does not appear and abide in the middle, or because it has no birth, it does not appear at the end, it does not appear at the end of things, and even when things cease, this clear light does not cease, therefore it is permanent, so it is also the appearance of all ends. Those who possess such characteristics are those who have been thoroughly taught by the Blessed Ones, the Buddhas, that all is emptiness and clear light. Just as the clear light of reality is like that, the wisdom that realizes it, measured by the mind, also manifests the form of that object as it is. Just as a crystal dyed blue is called a blue crystal, so too are terms such as no birth and no cessation applied to this clear light. This verse is translated in Chag Translation as: It does not appear at the beginning, or it appears at the beginning, it does not appear in the middle, or it appears in the middle, it does not appear at the end, or it appears at the end, all is emptiness, the Holy One has declared. This translation is easy to understand. In the self-nature of that wisdom, there is no coming and going to objects and directions, and there is no going to the past, present, and future. Since obscurations have never been established, there is no exhaustion by antidotes, and since the qualities of ultimate meaning exist as self-nature, there is no increase in qualities. Since it is not exhaustion, it is not non-existent, and since it is not increase, it is not existent. Or, since it is free from elaboration, it is not existent, and since it is great bliss, it is not non-existent. The mandala never seen before, all the wonderful forms of play, etc., are self-natured and possess all aspects.
