Although the body pervades, in the waking state, the gross is seen, but the subtle is not. However, for sentient beings in samsara, in the intermediate state where the gross body is destroyed, and in the state of union where the gross body is abandoned through meditation on the path, because there is no gross, only the subtle appears. However, in this stage of the illusory body sequence, although the gross body has not yet transformed and is still apprehended as real, it is not seen during meditative equipoise, and only the subtle appears. In the subsequent attainment, like a rainbow appearing on a mountain, both appear simultaneously. When the continuum of the deity's form that appears in meditative equipoise gives rise to the appearance of the gross body in the subsequent attainment, the subtle, which relies on the gross support, is seen to abide and enter as a radiance, hence it is called entering. The meaning of entering should not be thought of elsewhere. Thus, these two bodies of dream and illusory body, when this analogy is used to connect the meaning, the death luminosity and intermediate state at the base stage are also represented by this very sequence. Because the luminosity and union of the path are also represented by this, a great explanation is made of the way dreams arise. Therefore, at the time of death, the twenty-five gross elements dissolve into the subtle, and the four subtle appearances also dissolve sequentially. When the boundless luminosity arises, the force of the dissolution sequence separates the gross body and the pure body. And at the time of the dissolution sequence, the power of the mind arising in bliss and clarity matures the power of the pure element transforming into strength. As soon as the death luminosity awakens, the intermediate state body is accomplished, just like a dream arising after deep sleep. Similarly, what need is there to say if there is more power in concentration than the dissolution sequence at the time of death and the death luminosity? Even if there is only equal power, when the wisdom of how the gross and subtle dissolve arises, although the body and mind do not gradually separate because the cause of life is not exhausted and there is no disease that causes death, the appearance of the subtle body being able to stand independently without relying on the gross body in self-appearance occurs because the connection between the gross and subtle bodies, which must rely on each other, is severed by the power of the dissolution sequence, appearing like a separation. And from the power of the great bliss during the dissolution sequence, the pure body transforms into strength, and the deity's form is as accustomed to before.

Thus, the limitless image, primarily in form, is accomplished. The self-time of this illusory body of the third stage corresponds to the Sambhogakaya. In particular, the cause of the Yuganaddha-kaya of the learner is unique, and therefore it is also called Sambhogakaya. When any yogi dies, if the ultimate clear light of mind arises, this body appears as a substitute for the Bardo, so there is no Bardo. If this body is accomplished in life, then the karma and imprints of the Bardo can be reversed, and thus the certainty of no Bardo is obtained. Therefore, this is also the supreme path for purifying the Bardo. One of the names of Vajradhara is also called Mahasukha, because various pure appearances arise from the great bliss of the path, and the various pure appearances do not go beyond the nature of bliss. Therefore, bliss is the pervader of pure appearances, just as the Sambhogakaya Vajrasattva is the pervader of all Nirmanakayas, and bliss takes the Sambhogakaya as the path, and appearance takes the Nirmanakaya as the path, hence the name. Therefore, although the illusory body is not two, bliss and pure appearance, it is called the Samadhi of Mahasukha from the aspect of its essence being bliss. Therefore, this illusory body of relative truth is also the complete Sambhogakaya at the time of the path, and it is also the stage called the completely purified intermediate state being, and it is also the small Vajra body, and it is also the deity body of the nature of Vajrasattva. This meaning is stated in the Compendium of Conduct: Thus, the individual lives of children are called the Bardo, which is the cause of Samsara. Those who have obtained the instructions of all the Tathagatas through the lineage of the Lamas, like the appearance in a wall, a painted cloth, or a mirror, transform themselves by the nature of the Vajra body, possessing all kinds of excellence, a body that is never satisfied by seeing, adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great person, and so on. In short, it is said to be adorned with all the qualities of the Buddhas.
