Through the yoga of vast pride, Buddhahood will definitely be accomplished. The teacher possesses the thirty-two marks, and the sovereign possesses the eighty minor marks. Thus it is said. In the Condensed Tantra, it says: Abandoning the act of becoming a Buddha, whoever meditates on emptiness that is separate from bliss and equality, even through countless eons, they will be far from Buddhahood and the innate bliss. Furthermore, if one's own mind is completely immersed in fainting and sleep, the lord of men will become without inherent existence. When awake, it is clear with inherent existence, but these are not the path to liberation for beings. Separating by real and unreal, the Vajra Yogis of the mind do not give bliss and equality. Whoever embraces the wisdom of space, the self-mind that abides in innate bliss, that is what gives liberation. Thus it is said. Meditating on insignificant emptiness will not lead to Buddhahood, because the aim and the path are not complete. Merely cutting off elaboration will also not lead to Buddhahood, because if one could become a Buddha by the reason of cutting off elaboration, then all sentient beings would have already become Buddhas from the beginning. If one becomes a Buddha through meditation, then the conceptual thought that grasps such an appearance and general meaning will become the ultimate path. Because there is no reason whatsoever, the inexpressible or merely cutting off elaboration, cannot be meditated upon with non-conceptual wisdom, because it does not appear at all to it. Therefore, the Victorious Ones repeatedly say to meditate on emptiness, which is emptiness with appearance, because there is nothing to meditate on for the formless alone. Again, it is said: It is desired that there is nothing to meditate on, because the root of the mind is exhausted. If so, then fainting and deep sleep would also become the path to liberation. If one thinks that one is accustomed to hearing and contemplating emptiness beforehand, then fainting and sleep after hearing and contemplation would also become the path to liberation, because the understanding has gone before and is the same, and the main conceptual thought is slightly similar. Furthermore, it is also not the case that liberation is attained merely by the appearance that arises now, without altering its shape or changing its color. If that were the path to liberation, then the gross delusion of beings when they wake up, and the various expressions of desire and hatred, etc.

Since it is so, by analyzing with one's own wisdom, and appearing as experiencing sensation, then all of this will become effortlessly liberated from the beginning, because that is the inevitable conclusion. By analyzing things as being single, separate, and dependently arising, etc., breaking things down into non-existence, and meditating, this is not the true path to supreme liberation, because it is focused on multiple elaborations, and is the nature of the gathering of various conceptualizations, and if reality is impossible to grasp in any way, then this will grasp all sorts of things. Therefore, those different methods of wanting to meditate on mere emptiness, even if they are somewhat helpful for clinging to characteristics, will not become the complete path of perfect and complete enlightenment, because there is no meditation on the nature of great bliss, and there is no appearance of meditating on all aspects. So, what is the uncommon path of the Sugatas? It is meditating on all aspects, and meditating on unchanging bliss. In general, in the Paramita Vehicle as well, it is praised to meditate on emptiness combined with appearance. As it is said in the Samdhinirmocana Sutra: "Maitreya, what is the object of tranquil abiding? It is the mind that takes the image as its object." And "For the image of the object of concentration, knowing that this is only consciousness." etc. The noble Nagarjuna's Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning also says: "Those whose minds are free from support, transcending the limits of existence and non-existence, those profound and signless ones, are skilled in meditating on the meaning of signs." Here it speaks of meditating on signs, characteristics, and appearances. The noble Asanga's Compendium of Determinations also says, what is meditating on images? Answer: The image of the object of concentration, similar to the object of knowledge, corresponding to the category of higher seeing with conceptualization, or the image of the object of concentration, similar to the object of knowledge, corresponding to the category of tranquil abiding without conceptualization, whatever that meditation is, is called meditating on images. Therefore, the sutras also praise appearance, so the pure path of that school also includes appearance.
