Regarding the statement of counting seven and having five obscurations, regret and agitation are combined into one, sleep and drowsiness are combined into one. The laziness mentioned here is not counted. To desire, add longing and malice. These are the classifications of obscurations for the three trainings, etc. Among them, agitation, in the previous Dharma terms, refers to the mind not being peaceful and dwelling due to remembering the enjoyment of desirable qualities [now]. Here, it is established that the general characteristic of distraction that does not dwell on the object is agitation. If agitation is prevented, then longing, desire, and malice are prevented along the way, this is the intention. Some say that there are times when those two do not need to be abandoned by mantra practitioners, which is unreasonable and deviates from the meaning of the occasion. Here, it is not connected to the obscurations of the three trainings, but only focuses on the practice of mind abiding. The Glorious Guhyasamaja Tantra also says: Laziness, sleep, and regret, agitation and doubt, these five obscurations, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas do not like. What is said is also the same as this. Similarly, killing and taking what is not given, and engaging in sexual misconduct such as relying on another's wife, speaking falsehoods by reversing perceptions, harsh words of real rebuke, divisive speech that separates friends, and frivolous speech of an afflicted nature that is different from those three, and greed that desires the enjoyment of others for oneself, and malice towards the body and enjoyment of others, and wrong views that falsely slander the meaning of the four truths, and other evil views represented by it. If one does these ten non-virtuous deeds and various evil views, then the samadhi that has not arisen before will not arise, and what has arisen will degenerate, therefore it is a thief who steals the meditation that has arisen slightly before. Again, killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, false speech, drinking alcohol, these actions are sinful by their very nature, because they are naturally blameworthy. Together with the five existing sins, that is, considering drinking alcohol as a natural sin, is similar to the view of the Mahasanghika school. Playing and frolicking, and meat with marks, and attachment to eating meat killed for food and for value, and various idle talks.

Taking delight in gatherings, and with regard to the doctrines of the Lokayata (materialist) and the religions of the barbarians, 4-327 cherishing them in mind and striving in them. These are sinful actions, and the five near sins that correspond to them: killing cattle for the sake of sacrifice, human sacrifice, or for the purpose of offering to the Matri goddesses, killing children, killing adult women, killing men, and destroying the three supports of the teacher of gods and humans, the Three Jewels—these are the five killings. These five are extremely sinful, especially the first four, which many Lokayatas consider to be dharma, and the fifth, which the barbarians consider to be dharma. In order to refute their wrong views, they are specifically mentioned. Anger is resentment and wrath, that is, being angry with worldly or Dharma friends, a lord worthy of respect, the Buddha, the Sangha, and the Lama—these are five. The strong attachment of the five senses to the five objects is the five desires. If these are done, samadhi will be lost. These five deprive the arising of the good path, these twenty-five always, that is, whenever they are done, alternately deprive and degenerate the precious good path. If these twenty are done, one will be overwhelmed by the habits of sin, thereby causing practice to degenerate. The conceptual thoughts after the five sense consciousnesses clinging to objects are themselves distraction, therefore they are contrary to actual samadhi. It is said in all the sutras and tantras that engaging in sinful actions leads to the degeneration of samadhi. Therefore, even if one has done many sinful actions, claiming to be in the state of Mahamudra and Atiyoga, to be primordially liberated and primordially pure, and claiming to have good meditation, there are two possibilities: either it is just shameless deception of others, or it is only a case of having fallen into wrong meditation blessed by demons. Therefore, there is one meditation that arises from one's own diligence, one meditation that arises from pure blessings, and one meditation that is the activity of black-sided spirits, 4-328 there are three ways of going astray in meditation, and this must be understood, but most people do not seem to understand it. Furthermore, food and various drinks, dwellings, clothing, servants, and family, etc.
