There is also merit in hearing. Therefore, it is good that you hear this. It is even better if you understand and believe in it. The profound secret mantra is the king of methods, so even ordinary beginners can see a part of it. The bindus you see, like a string of beads, are undoubtedly the self-light of the Tathagatagarbha. Moreover, it is the Tathagatagarbha itself. The reason is that the essence is not empty, not dark, not nothing at all, not round, but appears in various forms free from conceptual elaboration, pervading everything, without near or far. Since it is various forms free from conceptual elaboration, you might think, is it this ungraspable consciousness that manifests various ordinary karmic appearances? See what others say. They will probably say so too. Whoever says that is just nonsense. When greed arises, there is no hatred; when hatred arises, there is no greed. When you see a horse, there is no cow; when you see a cow, there is no horse. When you hear pleasant sounds, you don't get bored; when you hear unpleasant sounds, you don't feel joy. If you sit, you don't go; if you go, you don't stop. That falls into extremes. What are all the forms? That which follows seeing, hearing, doing, and thinking is called conceptual elaboration. What is freedom from conceptual elaboration? To hope that these illusions of karmic appearances are all the forms free from conceptual elaboration is as absurd as seeing gold in dog excrement. Oh, the so-called all forms free from conceptual elaboration, after these impure illusions of karmic appearances are gone, there is a self-aware, self-illuminating ultimate reality. That is called freedom from conceptual elaboration. That itself is the unchanging thing that has always appeared as all the forms of samsara and nirvana, and is called all forms. That cannot be expressed in words, but by saying these words, there is an understanding in the mind that is not confused. For example, a precious jewel covered with mud, if you wipe it from one direction, you will first see a jewel the size of a needle tip. Seeing a light the size of a needle tip, that is the jewel. Like that example, the Tathagatagarbha, called the union of bliss and emptiness, is also unchanging bliss, and is also endowed with all perfections. That is a lapis lazuli jewel.

Like the sun. (Sūrya, Devanagari: सूर्य, Romanized Sanskrit: sūrya, Literal meaning: Sun) The root of obscuration is the habit of leaking pleasure and karma wind. It's like a jewel covered with dry mud, so nothing can be seen. Meditate on the three immovables through the door of activity binding. This will stop the karma wind a little, and the bindu will show a little. It's like peeling off the outer layer of soil from one side. The essence is all forms, but other forms are not seen. You can see the form of the bindu lineage. It's like seeing a jewel the size of a needle tip by peeling off the mud. Therefore, seeing this bindu lineage is the reason for seeing the Tathagatagarbha. Now, if you think this contradicts the previous determination of emptiness as consciousness, it is not contradictory. In general, consciousness and wisdom are like gold and gold rust, and there is no difference in position. If you get gold, you get gold rust. If you touch gold, you touch gold rust. If you see gold, you also see gold rust. Therefore, it is not contradictory that it is the appearance of the Tathagatagarbha and the appearance of consciousness. Just as a minister's servant is also the king's servant. However, at this time, it is like saying that the gold is underground but the light is on the ground. When the sunlight is reflected from the mirror and the water, although it is said that the light of the mirror and the light of the water eliminate the darkness, in fact, it is one ray of sunlight that is reflected on them to eliminate the darkness. Light a butter lamp in the dark. It has a lampshade or a lantern, and the appearance of seeing various forms outside the lampshade is the appearance that actually comes from the lampshade, but it is originally the appearance of the butter lamp, so there is no difference between the appearance of the butter lamp and the appearance of the lampshade. Just like this example, until you are completely free from all obscurations, the appearance of wisdom and consciousness are mixed. Now, since you can only see the bindu lineage and nothing else, your appearance seems limited and biased. The unchanging bliss is all-pervading, but now you have not experienced anything other than the subtle bliss of meditation. From the perspective of small bliss and one-sided appearance, it is the appearance of consciousness. Just seeing the bindu and the aspect of just bliss is the Tathagatagarbha.
