Even if something very light does not rely on a base, it is understandable that it floats around in the sky. However, it seems that something weighty cannot stay in the sky without a base. However, there is also something that does not need a base, yet stays firmly in the sky. This is an indication made by using contradictory expressions. Always observing and looking at meditation, dawn breaks with the aspect of selflessness and emptiness. Just by that, one might be able to realize the nature of reality from a certain aspect, but the path to ultimate liberation has not yet been found. Śānti is now holding the lamp of emptiness and form, searching for the path of omniscience. Or, it is also explained that initially, just seeing emptiness and form is like the breaking of dawn. Afterwards, becoming complete with all aspects is like the dawning of day. In the Great Commentary on the Compendium of Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds, the Essence of Meaning, it is quoted that: Here, it seems that there is a slight error in an old Chinese version of the commentary, and the latter part of that sentence is cut off and connected with "when the moon is full" etc. The full moon etc. are Dohā verses of the Black Practice school, which is clear in the Commentary on the Treasury of Practice Songs. In the middle of that, "Joy and compassion, the sound of the Damaru. The absence of focus of the noble deity, is clear." This sentence also seems to be the latter part of another sentence. Among the many Dohās translated by the Siddha Ratna Pāla, there is one Dohā said to be transmitted from the singer Tāpa of Ārya Deva: "Alas, the Damaru of compassion, the sound it makes is wonderful. Ārya Deva is without focus, he is not satisfied with the kingdom of kings." It seems that this is the one being quoted. The difference is that "joy" is translated as "wonderful" and "the kingdom of kings is clear." This seems to be Ārya Deva's own Dohā, but it is written mixed up with the time of dawn etc., mistakenly thinking it was said by Śāntideva, and Yéshé Tséwa saying that Śīla was Ārya's direct disciple is a laughing matter. Therefore, the writing basis of that commentary, like an old Chinese original, is a mistake translated from an incorrect Chinese copy that was copied from a place where some letters were blurred. Therefore, earlier
