All revere, the father and mother of us beings, this should be kept in mind. Just like Vajrasattva, so does the teacher manifest form, with the aim of subduing sentient beings, abiding in the form of an ordinary person. So it is said. In the glorious Stainless Light it says: The teacher Vajra Acharya who expounds the Kalachakra Tantra, is like the Bhagavan Manjushri, like the first Kalachakra Buddha, is what those who seek liberation should look upon. So it is said. In the Five Stages by the teacher Nagarjuna it also says: If a little of the peak of the mountain king falls, even if one does not want to fall, one will fall. If one obtains the benefit of the blessing of the teacher's kindness, even if one does not want to be liberated, one will be liberated. So it is said. The teacher can steal away sins, the teacher can eliminate fears, the teacher can liberate from the depths of the ocean of suffering. So it is said. The glorious Saraha also says: The words spoken by the teacher enter the heart, like seeing a treasure in the palm of the hand. So it is said. In Indrabhuti's Accomplishment of Wisdom it also says: Without grasping an oar, one cannot cross to the other shore by boat. Even if all qualities are perfectly complete, without a teacher one cannot reach the end of samsara. So it is said. The powerful and mighty Virupa also says: The teacher and Vajrasattva, should not be regarded as different. The teacher is the Buddha, the Dharma, likewise, the Sangha is the teacher. Those who desire the accomplishment of the supreme state, should please the teacher in every way. The essence of all Buddhas, Vajradhara, in this age of strife for the sake of myself and others, shows in accordance with all, having known this, with all offerings, serving the Buddhas of the three times, one will obtain the accomplishment of great bliss. So on and so forth. In short, the root of all accomplishments is the teacher, for which there are endless scriptural sources. Even now, what is manifestly proven is that those who have no faith in the root teacher, many undesirable things will fall upon their heads, while those who rely on the teacher with respect, happiness, joy, and good reputation arise spontaneously. Furthermore, in the words of the holy teachers it is said: Seeing the teacher as the Buddha is Buddhahood.

Blessings enter. If you see (the guru) as a Bodhisattva, then the blessings of the Bodhisattva enter; if you see (the guru) as an accomplished one, then the blessings of the accomplished one enter; if you see (the guru) as a good spiritual friend among ordinary people, then blessings enter in accordance with that. In short, if there is no devout respect, then blessings will not enter at all. It is said as such. The sixth point, the meaning of the profound path: Without devout respect for the guru, not to mention accomplishments, all hope for qualities is cut off. Even if there is only enough respect to not break vows, if there is no special devout respect to guide the path, then seeking other methods to accomplish the supreme requires other obstacles removal and enhancements, and many other methods. For other desired goals, one must also seek many different methods. For example, practicing longevity, practicing wealth, practicing power, etc., no matter how much one does, some will not succeed at all, and some, even if they succeed, require great effort, so it is not a profound path. If guided by special devout respect, then the supreme is accomplished by devotion alone. Removing obstacles on the path, enhancing merits, and all desires such as life, wealth, power, etc., are accomplished without difficulty by devotion alone. Because one method can solve everything, it is called the profound path. The seventh point, the classification of the methods of guiding the profound path: There are two ways to guide with devout respect: guiding through conduct and guiding through prayer. The first is: When a fortunate disciple meets a supreme guru, devout respect arises naturally. By exerting great effort for the sake of the guru, all the qualities of the grounds and paths manifest simultaneously like the rising sun. For example, the history of the appearance of the stupa of Drepung Monastery, as well as Indian accomplished ones such as Padmasambhava, Naropa, Maitripa, and many Tibetan translators, the yogi Ames Jangchub, the spiritual friend Jawulwa, and other stories. The second is: Most people nowadays have little of that kind of devout respect, and even if they want to make efforts, most are unable to do so. Even if a few can do it, if those who cannot do it hear about it, they will be very happy. In short, arrogance, attachment, pride, and
