Firstly, in general, all paths of the three vehicles are paths of liberation, but in this aspect of the unsurpassed secret mantra yoga, what is the nature of the path of liberation, which is divided into maturation and liberation, when it is appropriate? It is established on the special path of transforming the base. In this regard, what is known as the transformation of place in the general vehicle, the transformation of base in the common mantra practitioners, and the making free from obscurations in this Dharma, all have the same importance in meaning. Moreover, the base refers to: the world of cyclic existence, both sentient and insentient, the aggregates, elements, sense bases, body, speech, and mind, and the bindu of attachment, which are all encompassed by the three: afflictions, karma, and suffering. Focusing on that base, applying opposing forces that are contrary in nature, one by one, until the appearance of that and that ceases and is joined with emptiness, is the path of abandoning the base. But here it is not like that, but rather focusing on the qualities of the base itself, without completely blocking the appearance of that aspect and ultimately leading to non-appearance alone, but transforming it into something that is somewhat similar to the qualities of the base itself, such as the deity's form and great bliss, and by meditating on the wisdom that includes appearance, one realizes the state of the base. Therefore, it should be understood in this way: in general, in all paths of the three vehicles of Sutra and Tantra, there is a mixture of both the aspect of abandoning the base and the aspect of transforming the base. However, in the two lower vehicles, the aspect of abandoning the base is predominant. In the Mahayana Sutra system, abandoning is also somewhat emphasized. In the three tantras of Kriya, Charya, and Yoga, the proportions are equal. In this unsurpassed vehicle, transformation is very abundant and especially important. Therefore, it is named according to what is predominant. For example, in the case of a poisonous tree, making it non-poisonous by cutting off the leaves, pulling out the roots, burning it with fire, and so on, is an example of abandoning the base. If we use this analogy to purify the ordinary body, then first, when it is impossible to abide in the non-appearance that blocks the appearance of the body, we meditate on the body as being impure, impermanent, suffering, and empty of a doer, etc. These are only temporary causes for the appearance of the body to subside, because impurity makes the body not solid and unstable.

the cause of, and because of suffering, the appearance of the body is undesirable, and because of impermanence, it disintegrates moment by moment, so the appearance of the body arises and there is no time to stay, and because of emptiness, it prevents one person from dominating and making the body exist. In those states, there is also the objectification of selflessness, but it cannot be clearly manifested. Having become accustomed to this, later, like the Lesser Vehicle, it is the selflessness of the person, not only is the body unstable, but there is no single independent thing in it, so seeing that I am selfless, the appearance ceases there. In the Great Vehicle, it is the selflessness of phenomena, which is also because of impurity, impermanence, suffering, and emptiness, it is only an appearance, and knowing that there is no permanence, when the mind is placed on the fact that the body has never been established from the beginning, it will abide in a state where nothing appears in the mind. Therefore, each yoga of objectification, although initially meditating by focusing on the body as the basis of difference, immediately and repeatedly directs itself to the non-appearance where the appearance of the body ceases, and that itself is initially just a clear appearance, and later it is established by turning to manifestation, just like destroying the root of poison and making it invisible. The Lesser Vehicle only meditates on the selflessness of the person, but there is no realization that the body is empty from the beginning, but in its transcendental equipoise, it does not focus on the appearance of the ordinary body. Thus, the body is a symbol, and all phenomena can be combined. The example of transforming without abandoning the basis is like a poisonous tree being accomplished by the difference of contact with mantras and medicines, so that all its faults are pacified, and it becomes a supreme and perfect medicinal tree endowed with immeasurable qualities, not regarding poison as a fault, and without the need for burning or cutting, etc., and the lineage of that tree is not cut off, and although there is no great change in the external shape of the branches and leaves, the ability and function are transformed to be very different, so there is no need to abandon the basic poisonous tree by burning or cutting, but all the ability and characteristics are transformed by the combination of medicine and mantra. Similarly, here too, with the cutting off of the mind of abandonment, and the detachment from seeing faults, and the door of emptiness, when the appearance disappears.
