The quantity of each rosary's number is also from that very source. The rosary of an ascetic is said to be of eight kinds in this way. One with eighteen crystals pacifies the ascetic. Thirty-six pearls, when uttered in melody, cause people to flourish. Twenty-seven stars are said to bring merit to the sick. Twice that number, donkey's teeth, become hatred and expulsion. Thirty-six pure consonants, such as subjugation, are said to be from Botitze. When vowels and consonants are completely mixed, fifty with four added, it is called Padma, or attracting with sandalwood seeds. With half the foot of a star, it is said to be a Lumtang for bewildering. Vowels and consonants with a foot each are said to be Rudraksha for stiffness. Thus, from a pure place, eight kinds of purity are said to arise. So it is said. Most of those words are easy to understand, and if the words are explained in detail, they will become very lengthy. The essence of those meanings, summarized, is this: the nature of the mantra to be recited, the distinctions of the number of recitations, the instructions on how to recite, the calculation of the branches of benefit and harm, 3-378 the distinctions of the rosary that corresponds to the activity—these are the five. The first is that from this king of tantras, the categories of mantras that are actually spoken are also very numerous, and even if not actually spoken, the first letter of the name of all animate and inanimate things becomes a seed syllable, and the name itself, when combined with the letters of the mantra, also becomes a mantra, and so on. The classifications of mantras, calculated in a mixed way, have also appeared in great numbers. Although there are many scriptural statements explained in the extensive commentaries, the essence is: the first letter of the deity's name, or the seed syllable (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, literal meaning: Hum) alone is the Mind Vajra, and like that which is called Kalachakra (Tibetan: ཀཱ་ལ་ཙཀྲ་), merely mentioning the name is Speech Vajra, and adding Om (Tibetan: ༀ, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, literal meaning: Om) and Svaha (Tibetan: སྭཱཧཱ, Devanagari: स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: svāhā, literal meaning: Svaha) at the beginning and end makes it the Mantra of Body Vajra. As it is said: Meditate with the distinction of mind, make offerings with the distinction of speech, and recite with the distinction of body. Therefore, in the glorious Kalachakra, like the syllable Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, literal meaning: Hum) or Kam (Tibetan: ཀཱཾ, Devanagari: कां, Romanized Sanskrit: kāṃ, literal meaning: Kam), meditating as the cause for generating the deity, and the meaning of meditating with the mind on the seed syllable to be placed in the heart is necessary. That is also like, from planting the seed of rice, sprouts and so on.

It arises between the stem, bark, and ear. The seeds that were sown earlier, whatever kind of grain they may be, must also, as required, produce from the seed not only the form of the deity's face and hands but also the fruit must be similar to the seed itself. Or the three-tiered mind hero, or the seed-bearing cushion, or even until many letters need to be written, this also belongs to this category. Adding namaḥ (Tibetan, Devanagari: नमः, Romanized Sanskrit: namah, literal Chinese meaning: salutation) or svāhā (Tibetan, Devanagari: स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: svāhā, literal Chinese meaning: well said) at the beginning of the name, like the offering mantra of namaḥ, is the mantra needed during burning offerings and offering sacrifices, etc. Moreover, just the term "Kālacakra" (Tibetan: ཀཱ་ལ་ཙཀྲ, Devanagari: कालचक्र, Romanized Sanskrit: kālacakra, literal Chinese meaning: Wheel of Time) alone is also an offering mantra. Also, if reciting, reciting the single seed syllable "hūṃ hūṃ" (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ hūṃ), and reciting the single name "Kālacakra Kālacakra" (Tibetan: ཀཱ་ལ་ཙཀྲ་ཀཱ་ལ་ཙཀྲ, Devanagari: कालचक्र कालचक्र, Romanized Sanskrit: kālacakra kālacakra, literal Chinese meaning: Wheel of Time Wheel of Time) without any connection, although it exists in some cases, it is mostly not done because when reciting, it is necessary to recite with oṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, literal Chinese meaning: oṃ) at the beginning and hūṃ phaṭ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ phaṭ, literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ phaṭ) or svāhā (Tibetan, Devanagari: स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: svāhā, literal Chinese meaning: well said) at the end. Here, the so-called "more than the name" is understood as including the guiding mantra at the beginning and the transforming mantra at the end. Identifying the distinctions of body, speech, and mind recitations, and the system of establishing and distinguishing through the three necessary ways is the same. For this, the seed syllables themselves of the various deities of the mandala, and the first letter of the name, both have been spoken in the mind, but mainly it is the seed syllable itself. Also, the system of body, speech, and mind mantras is slightly different from this, another way is, without making it dependent on meditation and offering, but only making it dependent on recitation, on the first letter of the name of the deity to be accomplished, adding oṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, literal Chinese meaning: oṃ) at the beginning and an imperative word at the end, this is the mind recitation. The six limbs of the activity that will be explained are also the oral instructions for this. Like "oṃ kālacakraya svāhā" (Tibetan: ༀ་ཀཱ་ལ་ཙཀྲ་ཡ་སྭཱཧཱ, Devanagari: ॐ कालचक्रय स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ kālacakraya svāhā, literal Chinese meaning: oṃ kālacakraya svāhā), adding the beginning and ending mantras to the actual name is the speech recitation mantra. Adding an additional mantra on top of the actual name is the body recitation mantra. These are the root mantras, and the garland mantras are of two types, namely the garland mantra related to the main deity and the mantra of only the retinue. The garland mantra is said to be the same as the limbs of the body, and the mantras of only the retinue are only limbs, therefore they are the mantras of the limbs.
