For example, a border fortress: if it can be defended, it can repel the enemy's forces and strengthen one's own power; if it cannot be defended, it will retreat from its position and expand the enemy's influence. Similarly, if one can keep the vows, one can destroy the four maras and attain the three bodies and five wisdoms; if one cannot keep them, various unpleasant things will arise, and one will fall into the three lower realms after death. Therefore, among countless vows, this vow is the most supreme, just like the nature of a border fortress. Guarding it, whether successful or unsuccessful, will have a great impact for good or bad.' There are three situations for breaking vows: cause, condition, and time of breaking. There are six causes: According to the 'Tantra of the Net of Dakinis,' 'Ignorance, carelessness, many afflictions, disrespect, forgetfulness, unclear mindfulness, these six are the causes of breaking vows.' There are five conditions: Again, according to the same scripture, 'Not relying on the guru, associating with bad friends, in short, places where the three doors are distracted, these are the conditions for breaking vows.' There are seven times for breaking vows: Again, according to the same scripture, 'Being hindered by demonic obstacles, being intoxicated by alcohol, generating wrong views, being arrogant, greedy, overwhelmed by afflictions, abandoning the guru, generating strong desire, these are the times for breaking vows.' Generally speaking, it is said to be in times of strife. The result of breaking vows is: not getting what you want, but getting what you don't want. As the 'Great Vow Sutra' says: 'If it is not in accordance with the vows, even if you practice, you will not achieve it, just like a fruit without a cause, you will fall into hell when your life ends.' The benefits of keeping vows include the benefits of this life and the next. The benefits of this life are as stated in the 'Great Vow Sutra': 'If you have such vows, women will gather and be happy, dakinis and yoginis will show the symbols of body, speech, and mind, wealth, servants, attendants, kings, countries, etc. will gather, words will be listened to and be happy.' The benefits of the next life are as stated in the same scripture: 'From barley will sprout barley seedlings, from vows will arise Vajradhara (藏文:རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་,梵文天城体:वज्रधर,梵文罗马拟音:Vajradhara,汉语字面意思:持金刚者), it is said in the sutra that it can be obtained in this life, the time is in the time of strife.' This is an emphasis on importance. In short, the root vows have been explained. In order to practice the path of maturation and liberation, the empowerment that makes it mature is explained below. Now, in order to practice the path of maturation and liberation, it is divided into two parts: the empowerment that makes it mature and the path that makes it liberated. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is empowerment. There are two stages in the path of liberation. That is it. Among them, first, explaining the general meaning of empowerment, there are two parts: revealing the general meaning of empowerment and explaining the individual meaning of empowerment. The first part has five aspects: the nature of empowerment, definition, classification, necessity, and benefits. The nature is divided into two types: empowerment for those with medium and lower faculties, and introduction for those with higher faculties. First, it becomes a vessel for profound mantras and is the basis of all accomplishments. As the Root Tantra of Chakrasamvara says: 'In this tantra, if empowerment is given, all are told to practice.' The introduction for those with higher faculties is: the co-emergent wisdom that inherently exists within oneself and is spontaneously accomplished. Because it is obscured by the ignorance of conceptualization and is not clear, through the causes and conditions of the nature of the three gurus, empowerment is performed on one's own self-awareness, so it is empowerment. As the Vajra Samayoga says: 'The meaning of empowerment that exists from oneself, through the causes of the guru, is repeatedly meditated upon. From seeing all phenomena, it is known as maturation.' The definition of empowerment is: It is called empowerment because it washes away impurities and bestows abilities. Empowerment, in Sanskrit, is Abhiṣeka, which washes away the impurities of body, speech, and mind. As the Condensed Chakrasamvara says: 'It is called empowerment to purify the impurities arising from body, speech, and mind.' Also, empowerment, in Sanskrit, is Abhiṣeka-ka-tsa, which bestows the special ability of fruition wisdom. As the Secret Tantra of Vajra Dakini says: 'To purify the grasping of conceptual thoughts and to infuse self-aware wisdom, empowerments are said to be merely illusory.' There are four classifications: Vajra Acharya empowerment, Vase empowerment, Secret empowerment, Wisdom empowerment, and the Fourth empowerment. As the Later Tantra of Guhyasamaja says: 'Vase empowerment is the first, the second is Secret empowerment, Wisdom is the third, and the fourth is the same.' There are two necessities: Vase empowerment and Secret empowerment mature the immature. As the Root Tantra says: 'For those who manifest Vajradhara, these gradually mature them, diligently generate faith, give permission, and then reveal the latter.' The third and fourth empowerments enable the unawakened to awaken. As the Vajra Garland Tantra says: 'By pleasing the guru and receiving empowerment, the impurities in the student's continuum are purified, awakened, and matured, and genuine profound wisdom is obtained.' Empowerment is (Tibetan: དབང་,Sanskrit Devanagari: अभिषेक,Sanskrit Romanization: abhiṣeka, Chinese literal meaning: 灌顶). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
