Furthermore, if a Bodhisattva, striving for the attainment of the Tathagata's wisdom, diligently engages in the two accumulations (of merit and wisdom), and through that diligence, in each and every world, to make offerings to all the Buddhas, cultivates miraculous powers, and enters into a Samadhi such as the one described below, and by the power of that Samadhi, in Buddha-fields more numerous than the sands of the Ganges, where countless Tathagatas, the Blessed Ones, reside, possessing two bodies (rupa-kaya and dharma-kaya), along with retinues of Bodhisattvas and assemblies of Shravakas. To each of these Tathagatas, offering various excellent things, such as two or three-storied buildings, cool in summer and warm in winter, with foundations measuring one Yojana in width and a height of ten Yojanas, made of all kinds of precious materials, filled inside and out with divine fragrances, the ground adorned with various flowers placed separately, possessing all kinds of undefiled enjoyments such as food and clothing, offering five hundred Ganges sands' worth of these every single day, and continuing such offerings for a full hundred thousand Kalpas, the merit of this is immeasurable. However, if any son or daughter of good family, generating the mind of Bodhi for the sake of others, desiring Buddhahood, in the category of the Tathagata's essence of Dharma, let alone holding it completely, even holding just one verse from this, comprehending it in body and mind, writing it in a scripture, the merit is even greater. Vajra Wisdom, that merit is far greater than the former merit of offering to the Buddhas, not even a hundredth part, not even a thousandth part, not even a hundred thousandth part, and not even close to being similar in terms of numbers or analogies, it is inconceivable and immeasurable. Furthermore, Vajra Wisdom, if a Bodhisattva, seeking the Dharma of the Buddhas, diligently and tirelessly, at the places of the countless Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, as previously mentioned, for a full hundred thousand Kalpas, with divine trees... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if one scatters four loads of Mandarava (mandārava) flowers, amounting to eighty million kotis (འབུམ་, Laksha) , that merit is great. However, if a bhikshu (dge slong, bhikṣu), bhikshuni (dge slong ma, bhikṣuṇī), upasaka (dge bsnyen, upāsaka), or upasika (dge snyen ma, upāsikā) generates the mind of enlightenment, and after hearing this category of the Tathāgatagarbha (de bzhin gshegs pa'i snying po, Tathāgatagarbha) doctrine, respectfully joins their palms once and utters one word of 'rejoicing,' then the merit accumulated by the Vajra Wisdom (rdo rje'i blo gros), and the virtue accumulated, compared to the merit and virtue accumulated by offering scattered flowers and garlands and placing them before the Tathagata, the former does not even approach the latter by a hundredth, a thousandth, a millionth, or even by number or comparison; it is utterly incomparable. Why is that? Because the former two are offerings of material directed towards the Rupakaya (gzugs sku) of the Tathagata, while the latter two are the upholding of the Dharma directed towards the Dharmakaya (chos sku) – the Sugata (bde gshegs) Tathāgatagarbha. Secondly, expressing that meaning in verse: Then, at that time, the Bhagavan (bcom ldan 'das, Bhagavan) spoke these verses: 'Some sentient beings, if they generate a mind of aspiration for enlightenment, listen to and uphold this sutra, or write it down and place it in a book, and with reverence explain one verse of it to others, or having heard that there is a Tathāgatagarbha, seek this supreme Dharmakaya of enlightenment, then how great a mass of merit will they accumulate? Now listen to me, I will explain the benefits of this. Abiding in the supreme power of miraculous abilities previously shown, whatever brave Bodhisattva (byang chub sems dpa', Bodhisattva) for hundreds of thousands of kalpas, in the ten directions, makes offerings to the Buddhas (sangs rgyas, Buddha), the chief of humans residing in all directions, along with their Bodhisattva and Shravaka (nyan thos, Śrāvaka) retinues, with magnificent mansions made of countless jewels, more numerous than the sands of thousands of Ganges rivers. These supreme, immeasurable mansions, made of countless merits, are ten yojanas (dpag tshad, Yojana) high and one yojana wide, filled with incense and other enjoyments, and in those mansions are thrones made of jewels, covered with hundreds of silk and ornaments.'
