Chapter 8: The Presence of the Tathāgatagarbha in All Beings, Like a Noble Person in a Poor Woman's Womb Regarding how all beings possess the Tathāgatagarbha, like a supreme ruler among humans: Noble sons, consider another example. Imagine a woman without the protection of a father or other guardians, with an ugly body and foul odor, deserving of everyone's contempt, with tangled hair and other frightening features, unpleasant and repulsive to look at, like a female ghost dwelling in cemeteries and such places. Because she is without refuge, she dwells in a house built by compassionate people. As she dwells there, she conceives a child in her womb, a being destined not to be devoured by demons, one who will surely rule the four continents and exercise the sovereignty of a universal monarch. Even though such a being enters that woman's womb, the woman does not even consider what kind of being dwells within her. She is unaware of the conception and does not even wonder whether she is pregnant. Instead, she dwells in that state, feeling poor and ashamed, with little merit and a sense of weakness. She constantly thinks of these things, dwelling in that refuge-less house with her ugly and foul-smelling body, passing her days and nights. Noble sons, just like that woman, all beings are without refuge, tormented by the suffering of saṃsāra, and their places of birth in saṃsāra, such as the hells, are like that refuge-less house. The Tathāgatagarbha, the seed of the Tathāgata, dwells within those beings, but they are unaware of its presence. Noble sons, regarding this, the Tathāgata, considering beings to be as lowly as himself, thinking that they cannot attain enlightenment even if they follow the path, does not belittle himself. In order to attain the saṃbhogakāya (enjoyment body), he speaks thus: 'Noble sons, do not perish from shame. Be steadfast in your diligence on the path. You possess the basis for the dharmatā (nature of reality) Tathāgata, the basis for attaining the saṃbhogakāya. One day, you will eliminate the primary defilements that rely on the impure ground—the afflictions—and manifest it. If you attain it, you will temporarily be counted among the bodhisattvas, and no longer among ordinary beings.'

It is not. The Bodhisattva at that time also strives on the path and is called a Bodhisattva who goes to the count of becoming a Buddha, but it is not (referring to already being a Buddha). Thus, the Dharma is taught. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: Like a woman who has become helpless, with an ugly body color and an unattractive form, whose mind and strength are as weak as a child's, she dwells in a helpless house. After a while, that woman became pregnant in that place, and in her womb निश्चित(Tibetan),निश्चित(Sanskrit Devanagari),niścita(Sanskrit Romanization),certainly there is a great Chakravartin king, who has great merit, possesses the seven treasures, especially the precious wheel, and he will become the master of the four continents. Such a person of karma has entered her womb. That child-like woman does not know whether she is pregnant or not, and dwells in a helpless house, thinking of poverty and suffering, and spends her time. Just like that, I see that all sentient beings are helpless, oppressed by the law of suffering, dwelling in the small happiness of the three realms, and in their hearts there is a Dharma-nature essence like a Chakravartin. Seeing this, Bodhisattvas, in order to benefit the world and obtain the Sambhogakaya, have a cause like a womb in their hearts, and although they dwell in their own bodies, all sentient beings do not know that there is a Dharma-nature essence, and think that they are inferior. Do not generate such a thought! Thus, the Dharma is taught. What is the reason for not being inferior? You should firmly strive to practice, and soon you will obtain the victorious Buddhahood, and at some time obtain the essence of Bodhi and Sugata, thereby liberating hundreds of thousands of beings. Ninth, the way the Tathagatagarbha dwells in all beings like a golden image in the middle of mud: Sons of the lineage, again, for example: For example, make a shape of a horse, an elephant, a woman, or a man out of beeswax. Then put it in clay, cover it with clay, dry it, melt the beeswax and let it flow out, burn the clay, and then in that empty shell, pour in molten gold. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
