'Son of good family, with my perfectly pure Tathagata eye, I see all sentient beings in this way.' Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: 'Just as here there is honey, guarded and hidden by many bees, if someone desires honey, seeing it, they will drive away the bees. Similarly, in this context, the three realms are like a beehive, all sentient beings are within. These sentient beings have countless afflictions, and within many afflictions, I see the Tathagatagarbha. To purify the Buddha-nature, like driving away bees, I eliminate afflictions. For the sake of removing the harm caused by countless afflictions to the Buddhas, here the Mahayana teachings are skillfully shown with skillful means. For what purpose? So that these sentient beings may become Tathagatas, and constantly perform the deeds of the Buddhas in the world, and so that those courageous Buddhas may master the profound Dharma truth, like the taste of honey in a honey container, and thus the profound Mahayana will be taught.' The third analogy: How the Sugata-garbha resides in all beings like a collection of grains within a husk. Son of good family, furthermore, it is like this: for example, grains such as rice, barley, wheat, or buckwheat, etc., their kernels are entirely protected by husks. Until they are removed from their outer husks, they cannot be used for food, seasoning, or tasting. Son of good family, those men or women who desire food, seasoning, and other edibles harvest and thresh them, removing the husks and outer shells. Son of good family, similarly, the Tathagata, with the eye of the Tathagata, sees that all sentient beings' ultimate reality, the Tathagata-nature itself, the Buddha-essence itself, the self-arisen wisdom itself, is wrapped and abiding in the husk of afflictions, primarily characterized by the latent tendencies of ignorance. Son of good family, therefore, the Tathagata also removes the afflictions of sentient beings.

Like removing the husk of a grain, completely purifying the essence of the Tathagata (如来,Tathāgata, De-bzhin-gshegs-pa, Thus Gone), wishing that these beings be liberated from all the husks of afflictions, and that they may enter the ranks of those called Tathagata (如来,Tathāgata, De-bzhin-gshegs-pa, Thus Gone), Arhat (དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་,Arhat, Dgra-bcom-pa, Foe Destroyer), Samyak-sambuddha (ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས།,Samyak-saṃbuddha, Yang-dag-par-rdzogs-pa'i-sangs-rgyas, Perfectly and Completely Awakened One) in the world, I teach the Dharma (ཆོས།,Dharma, Chos, Dharma) in twelve parts to sentient beings. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan (བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས།,Bhagavan, Bcom-ldan-'das, Blessed One) spoke these verses: Just as grains such as wheat, or rice, whatever it may be, as long as they are with their husks, they cannot be used as food. Men or women, after pounding the grains with their husks, and removing the husks, can perform various kinds of food-related activities. Those grains with husks, if the husks are not removed, cannot provide food etc. for sentient beings. Similarly, seeing that the Buddha-nature (སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ས།,Buddha-nature, Sangs-rgyas-kyi-sa, Buddha Nature), the Dharmadhatu (ཆོས་ཀྱི་དབྱིངས།,Dharmadhatu, Chos-kyi-dbyings, Realm of Dharma) residing in the hearts of all sentient beings is covered by afflictions, in order to purify those afflictions, and in order to quickly transform sentient beings into Buddhas (སངས་རྒྱས།,Buddha, Sangs-rgyas, Buddha), I teach the Dharma (ཆོས།,Dharma, Chos, Dharma). All sentient beings possess the nature of the Tathagatagarbha (བདེ་གཤེགས་སྙིང་པོ།,Tathāgatagarbha, Bde-gshegs-snying-po, Womb of the Thus-gone) similar to me, which is entangled by hundreds of afflictions, I will purify it, and in order to quickly transform all sentient beings into victors over Mara (བདུད།,Mara, Bdud, Demon) just like me, I teach the Dharma (ཆོས།,Dharma, Chos, Dharma) in various ways. 1-54 Fourth, the way the Tathagatagarbha (བདེ་གཤེགས་སྙིང་པོ།,Tathāgatagarbha, Bde-gshegs-snying-po, Womb of the Thus-gone) resides in all beings like a jewel in the midst of filth: Sons of the lineage, furthermore, consider this example: In a pile of rotting and decaying matter, filled with feces and urine, and foul odors, a man who has abandoned the main road and is walking along a side path drops a golden ornament, a round golden bead, which becomes immersed in the stench of feces and urine, covered by rotting and decaying matter, and obscured by other impurities, making it invisible and undiscoverable by anyone. Even if that gold remains there for ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, a hundred, or even a thousand years, it will not be corrupted by the impurities, but even though it is so precious, it will not benefit any sentient beings. Sons of the lineage, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
