Acting, at the joy of the wise and the urging of others, I pay homage to the one who clarifies all fields of knowledge! Therefore, the tantras and their commentaries and branches, the sutras and their treatises and their commentaries and branches, Translated and revised, clarified by commentaries, satisfying all beings with the treasure of good speech, I pay homage to you! Day and night diligently reciting, meditating, Torma, rituals, writing, translating, and teaching, never missing the right time, to fulfill the Lama's intention, constantly making enjoyment meaningful, I pay homage to you! Initially from the age of seven, until the age of sixty-seven, clarifying the teachings, Your mind was very pleased, on the thirteenth day of the dark month, with virtuous thoughts, you passed away to Sukhavati, I pay homage to you! The Lama's qualities are vast like the earth, like Mount Meru firmly holding the Victorious One's teachings, May this praise also, like the sky, always hold the accumulation of merit and wisdom. Thus spoke Sonam Gyaltsen Palsangpo, having received the Lama's grace, To make it easy to understand, abandoning ornate language, skillfully establishing it upon the meaning. Beyond the distinction of flaws and virtues, you perfectly see all dharmas as they are, Let alone dispelling the marks of self-grasping. Therefore, you possess excellent samadhi. For the abundant wealth of existence and peace, you easily bestow it upon beings, Let alone giving a small offering. Therefore, I regard you as the protector of beings. With virtuous actions, you perfectly care for all these beings like a loving mother, Let alone caring for the impoverished beings. Therefore, I regard you as virtuous actions. Through the power of diligently training in past lives, possessing clear intelligence, even the most learned of scholars, Marvel at even a fraction of your qualities, I regard you as a lion of eloquence. With the intention of benefiting and with compassion, for those who are close to you, Whatever benefits there may be, you teach them appropriately according to their capacity. I prostrate to you. Gods, demigods, and humans, Widely proclaim your greatness. They all serve your feet well, Offering with reverence. Supreme one, in the three realms, From the river of aging, sickness, and death, you liberate all beings driven by karma, I bow to you, you are the boat of salvation. The worldly realms of samsara are untamed, And the beings themselves are untamed. You pacify them with the power of bodhichitta, I prostrate to you, you bring them to peace. You are unattached, benefiting others, For those who benefit others, you greatly praise. I greatly praise you, You pacify the two obscurations, seeing things as they are. Supreme protector, bestowing the supreme lord, Giving goodness, possessing wisdom and compassion, a treasure of auspiciousness. I bow to you always in the three times. Your excellent speech, like a stream of nectar, Whatever falls into the ear of anyone, in that person's mind, Creates sprouts of virtue, I bow to you. Just as the great earth is the support for beings, your wisdom is like a thousand-petaled lotus, A dwelling for the honey of qualities, satisfying the diligent bees of discipline, I bow to you. The root of compassion is extremely stable, the branches of the three trainings are extremely vast, Possessing inexhaustible fruits of benefit and happiness, I prostrate to the wish-fulfilling tree. If one can attain omniscience through study, then benefiting others goes without saying. Therefore, what is so amazing about mastering some knowledge through study? For you, all that should be known, merely by seeing or hearing a little, In this life, without training, you know effortlessly. Such a one is rare in this world.
