By the power. May all the discomforts of myself and limitless sentient beings Be eliminated, and may happiness be bestowed here and hereafter. When I repeatedly pray, Please do not treat it with equanimity, Please deeply contemplate the benefit of myself and others, And may all endeavors be spontaneously accomplished. If there are any faults in such prayers, Before the supreme protector and retinue, I pray for forgiveness, and may the qualities of body, speech, and mind, The two accumulations be perfected, and may I ultimately attain enlightenment. The one who speaks thus is the glorious Sakya school, Following the Dharma Lord, the Lord of Dharma, Sonam Gyaltsen Pal, who speaks of scriptures and reasoning, Named 'Excellent,' composed with a respectful mind. This is a gathering of offerings placed on the crown of the head of Khenpo Khasdrub Zhiwa Tso, who is inseparable from the Sugata, and when auspicious connections were arranged, it was quickly compiled on the twenty-eighth day of the second month of the year of the Hero at the great Gungtang Monastery. May it be auspicious! Homage to the translator Lodan Homage to the translator Lodan, whose depth and breadth of perfect wisdom are immeasurable, Possessing waves of limitless compassion, Being a treasure of limitless activities, Homage to the unprecedented water god, the son of Shuddhodana (Shakyamuni Buddha). Meaning good like a lotus, fully blooming everywhere, words good like a thousand petals, Nourished by the nectar of the four Brahmaviharas, not stained by the mud of faults, Radiant like the rays of the sun, revered by the bees of the wise, I honor the virtuous Dharma of the three times, like a string of precious beads, on my crown. Wisdom like a lotus root, with a firm foundation, possessing branches of scripture and realization, Adorned with the pure flowers of the three trainings, filled with the fruits of vast liberation, The fragrance of benefit and happiness spreading in all directions, relieving the suffering of beings, I pay homage to the supreme field of merit, the assembly of wish-fulfilling trees. Even a fraction of the light of wisdom, shining in the sky of knowledge, Can diminish the brilliance of the wise and the assembly of billions of stars, For those who boast of having surpassed the doctrines of other schools, wandering in the night, It can make their eyes of wisdom blind like the blind, even if the debate is exquisite, humility is necessary. Like the light of day. Even the wise of the wise, day after day, Even if praised for an eon or more, there is no limit to the extent of its qualities, Famous like the Sugata in the Sugata's teachings, shining brightly in all directions. Lodan of steadfast wisdom --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May you live long to spread the joy of lineage! Whoever is on the mountain of the Buddha's teachings, Possessing the complete wings of phonetics and epistemology, Freely soaring in the sky of the five sciences, At the feet of the all-holding Lord of Dakinis. With the power of good speech, the body of wisdom is perfected, The two wings of hearing and diligence are also well-developed, Fearless in the sky of scripture and reason. The follower of the Lord of Dakinis prays thus: May your body be free from illness and be well! Are you not tired of talking about Dharma? The glory of your wisdom, Does it illuminate the lotus garden of scholars? With the white teeth of practice and refutation, The lion of debate defeats the hordes of opposing elephants, With the claws of reason, Tearing apart the lives of wrong views, causing them to fail completely? The fragrance of your fame spreads in all directions, The fragrant scent that spreads everywhere, Pervades the sense of smell of my mind, I feel that the uncontaminated bliss has filled my heart. I am also free from the darkness of ignorance, With pure eyes of wisdom, Countless clear and bright meanings of Sutras and Tantras, Looking at them again and again, I am never satisfied. Now, what I am reporting to you is: Like the Buddha, your work, Equally benefits all beings to be tamed, However, those who can become vessels of good speech, Those who have pure wisdom and study diligently are not many, As rare as the stars that appear in the daytime, Even if they study diligently, they only understand a part of knowledge, For those whose wisdom has not yet matured, Even if they bestow the rays of good speech every day, It is like showing various images to the blind, You know, in order to make the scholars, Happy in the joyous festival of Dharma, In order to make them happy with the wealth of good speech, May you diligently work on the mandala of wisdom and compassion, Act quickly like the sun driven by seven horses. This is an offering to present the letter, offering a silk made of silkworm saliva. In the year of great joy, on the fifteenth of the white side of the month of asceticism, at the auspicious Sakya Monastery, the supreme abode of great scholars, Sonam Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo, a well-versed monk with the eloquence of reason and liberation, wrote this letter of supplication. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-3863
