‘A single moment of non-dharmic thought,’ this was written in copper. ‘If, upon entering the inner door, the body, speech, and mind are even slightly distracted,’ this was written in silver. ‘If I move from this bed in my sleeping quarters, may the Buddhas of the three times split my head into a thousand pieces,’ this was written in gold. By practicing in this way, he went to the realm of the Dakinis. Jowo (Jowo, honorific title meaning 'supreme one') also practiced only abandoning this life and conforming to the Dharma. After his passing, he left a conch amulet said to contain profound teachings to the Dharma protector. This amulet could not be opened, but it was later split open by the Hor people, and many paper scrolls were found inside. Someone asked, ‘Who obtained it?’ The answer was, ‘Death.’ ‘It is death.’ There were about one hundred and one scrolls, and they said, ‘Uncertain when death will come.’ ‘Uncertain when death will come.’ There was also, ‘If there is long life, may there be long life! If there is short life, may there be short life! Whether long life or short life, at the time of death, it is all the same.’ And ‘No matter what, it is not needed, not needed,’ and so on, much was written. Some say that this is the form of profound teachings. One with merit understood that this meant abandoning this life to practice. Generating certainty based on the story of Kharag Gomchung: Generating certainty based on the story of Kharag Gomchung: When Kharag Gomchung was practicing at Lheu Karu Rock in Phan Yul, Potowa said, ‘In that rock, there is someone called Tsang Kharag Gomchung practicing.’ He practices with little learning, like climbing a rock with his hands. After saying this, he smiled slightly. The monks also began to criticize him, saying that he seemed to have no fear. So he left. After he left, the main wild animals all ran away. He saw that on the four sides of where he had been staying, there were letters written on the rocks: On the east, it was written: ‘The weak me suffers many misfortunes and calamities. If I gain a stable state, misfortunes will appear as helpers. Like a forest fire and a spark, living alone is my vow.’ On the south, it was written: ‘The Lord of Death, Mara, will not stay, he will come again and again. There is no way to escape from him. Now I am under the power of sleep and laziness, I wonder when he will come for me!’ On the west, it was written: ‘Somehow, the food and clothing of this life can be taken care of, but after death, there is no way to seek the fruit of enlightenment. Without attachment to enemies and relatives, it is important to quickly accumulate great merit.’ On the north, it was written: ‘Life is short, there is no leisure, there is no end to worldly affairs. Therefore, follow the intention of the holy ones, abandon busyness, and practice peaceful abiding in a solitary place, living alone like a rhinoceros horn.’ Seeing these words, he felt ashamed and developed certainty about him. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
