I, having dispelled all wrong views, became undisputed. At that time, a monk from Kham Rongpo said, 'It seems there are six dharmas, please teach them.' I said there were none, but he wouldn't listen. I said there was nothing to teach, but he still wouldn't listen. So I grabbed his hands and said, 'Old man, I will die, and you will die too!' My merits, whether I die tonight or tomorrow morning, are impermanent. Devotion to the lama, the desire for unreal illusions, these three arise, and there is nothing more than that.' After saying this, he began to doze off. Generating certainty based on the words of Dampa Marpo: Generating certainty based on the words of Dampa Marpo (Holy Red): A patron who had long supported Dampa Marpo said, 'I am old now, please teach me a concise and easy-to-practice dharma.' Dampa Marpo said, 'Make a hundred and eight tsok offerings and a million offerings.' He did so, but not long after, he said, 'Now please teach me.' Dampa Marpo said, 'There are some things that cannot be heard by others, use a set of tsok instruments and find a deserted place.' So they went to a cave, and Dampa Marpo said, 'See if there is anyone there.' He said, 'There is no one.' Dampa Marpo said, 'Now grab my hand and look at my mouth.' He did so. Dampa Marpo said, 'Alas, I will die, and you will die too, I have given you such a profound dharma.' The patron thought, 'Does this dharma require a hundred and eight tsok offerings and a million offerings? I have really met an old swindler.' That night he didn't sleep at all. At dawn, he slept for a while, and the feeling of death and impermanence arose spontaneously in his mind. At that time, he said, 'This is really a good renunciation.' Generating certainty based on the words of Zhang Rinpoche: Generating certainty based on the words of Zhang Rinpoche (Precious Zhang): Zhang Rinpoche said, 'The reason for not being liberated from samsara is because one has not realized the meaning of reality. The reason for not realizing the meaning of reality is because one has not generated faith. The reason for not generating faith is because one has not remembered death. If a genuine feeling of death and impermanence arises in the mind, the faith of renunciation will arise spontaneously, thereby accumulating merit, eliminating obscurations, realizing the meaning of reality, and ultimately liberating from samsara.' For people of superior and intermediate faculties, explain the Dharma three to six times, and through the support of scriptures, generate certainty, thereby entering practice. In general, the Kadampa tradition is that spiritual friends purify the minds of students and show them the essence of meditation without going into lengthy explanations. And the tradition of our school is to generate certainty through the support of scriptures, thereby entering practice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By incorporating the essence of guidance, understanding what is said in the Sutras and Tantras as the meaning of meditation. Great meditators need to understand what is said in the Sutras and Tantras. Meditation that does not conform to the Sutras and Tantras is ineffective. Vimalamitra explained four faults: lacking scriptural basis, having artificiality and correction, experience being seized by demons, and obstacles becoming hindrances. Appearance is mind has three aspects: Those who hold sectarian views believe that in the experience of non-duality, there is clinging to reality in self-awareness. From the final definitive teachings, appearance is mind, and mind is the union that is free from conceptual grasping. As the scripture says, 'Abiding in the true meaning, transcending the Mind-Only school, the yogi who abides in non-appearance sees the great vehicle.' In Tantra, appearance is mind, and mind is free from all grasping of the deity's form. In the system of the Characteristic Vehicle, Samatha (calm abiding) is like emptiness of the sky, and Vipassanā (insight) is like bliss-emptiness of illusion, thus the practice of Samatha and Vipassanā are considered different. Here, all appearances, sounds, and phenomena are manifestations of one's own mind. The Two Examinations states: 'The one great mind-essence manifests in the form of the five,' that is, the five aggregates, the five elements, the five poisons, the six senses, the six objects, the six colors, the six realms, and so on, all are manifestations of one's own mind. As the scripture says, 'The form aggregate is not a vajra.' The Lankavatara Sutra says: 'The mind disturbed by habits, appears as external objects, external objects are not real, they are only mind-essence, thinking external objects are real is wrong.' The Gur Tantra says: 'Outside of the precious mind, there is no Buddha, and no sentient being. The true meaning of consciousness is, there is not even a little bit of external existence.' If the six types of beings are arranged on the same riverbank, hell beings see boiling water of suffering, pretas (hungry ghosts) see pus and blood, asuras (demigods) see weapons, humans and animals see water, fish see houses, and gods see nectar. As the scripture says: 'Hell beings, pretas, animals, and gods, the six types of beings, the same thing is different because of the mind, therefore it is believed that things have no inherent existence.' In the discussion of white and red bindus (Tibetan: ཐིག་ལེ, Sanskrit Devanagari: बिन्दु, Sanskrit Romanization: bindu, Chinese literal meaning: dot), by relying on special skillful means to grasp the white and red bindus, therefore it will be grasped by the path of skillful means. The key to the appearance of luminosity in dreams at dawn is: digesting all the food eaten in a day and night through the fire of co-emergence, and then expelling the waste into the cecum, the essence... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
