Then, King Minyanji (弥颜吉,person's name) was alone, staring blankly as the sun's shadow lengthened. At that moment, the queen said, 'Since the sun hasn't returned, let's dismantle that illusion.' It was then discovered that seven years had passed, yet the shadow had only moved the length of seven fingers. Therefore, a fleeting moment can be mistaken for eternity. The king then felt that the entire kingdom, including the queen, was no different from the previous illusion. He renounced his life and became a monk under the Buddha, eventually attaining the state of Arhat. Such is the nature of the illusion of the gods. Again, he asked, 'Venerable One, how should one view dreams?' The Buddha replied, 'In the southern part of India, there was a king named Yuexian (月贤,Rājā Candrabhadra, Raja Chandrabhadra, Moon-Virtuous King), who had a daughter, beautiful and pleasing to behold, adorned with countless jewels and fine garments. Once, she was residing in a house of sorrow. One of the thirty-two maids asked, 'Why are you so sad when you are so wealthy?' The princess replied, 'I cannot find a husband who is worthy of me.' The maids said, 'We have a beautiful daughter of our enemy; let us arrange a marriage with her.' So, they sent jewels worth one hundred million gold coins. The king also sent the same amount. The princess was pleased. In a dream, she united with a handsome prince and gave birth to a delightful son, which made her very happy. Later, the son died, and she was filled with sorrow. Just as she was waking up, the master Buddha-jñāna-lāma (佛陀的智慧,Buddha-jñāna-lāma) recited, 'Jaya siddhi (ཛ་ཡ་སིདྡྷི་,जय सिद्धि,jaya siddhi,Victory and accomplishment), alms have been collected.' 'Just as a young woman in a dream gives birth to a son and then sees him die, rejoicing at his birth and grieving at his death, so should all phenomena be understood.' Hearing these words, she recalled the dream, felt a sense of detachment, and renounced her home to practice, eventually attaining enlightenment. Such is the nature of dreams. The son of the gods then asked, 'If appearances are untrue and false, why do earth, stones, and rocks appear so solid and tangible?' The Buddha replied, 'Son of the gods, in the past, there was a hermit named Mishijin (弥施金,person's name) who meditated on himself as a tiger and, in that form, devoured many people. Also, there was a monk who was troubled by a Rakshasa woman, and he meditated on himself as a skeleton. Because these habits grew stronger, the Rakshasa woman said, 'Do not touch me, or I will be destroyed.' Even a short-lived habit can produce such a solid effect. How much more so when negative habits have been accumulated since beginningless time and have been practiced for so long? Why would one not cling to the false and believe it to be true? Therefore, son of the gods, one should realize that all is not real,' said the Buddha. This is the truth. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although appearing, it is allowed to apply in the state where all dharmas are false. This illusion refers to appearing but without truth. As Niguma said: 'Appearing but not established as true, emptiness but not defiled by grasping.' The appearance of this illusion arises when causes and conditions gather, and does not arise when they do not gather. If the moon is clear and there is no obscuration in the sky, then all the water vessels in Jambudvipa (referring to the world we live in) will reflect the image of the moon. If the water vessel is overturned, it is not that the moon is taken away by the water or sinks into the vessel, but that the causes and conditions have dispersed, so it does not appear. The Buddha taught that a man attains Buddhahood with a tiger, a woman attains Buddhahood with spinning, and a leader attains Buddhahood with desire. Generating certainty based on the story of Atisha and the translator Rinchen Zangpo: When Atisha came from India, the translator Rinchen Zangpo thought: I will invite him to Kha che Temple and have him praise the deities of the lower Kriya Tantra by pointing with gestures, so that I know he is familiar with the Kriya Tantra. Then I will have him praise the deities of the middle Yoga Tantra, so that I know he is a complete Pandit. Finally, I will have him praise the deities of the upper Anuttarayoga Tantra, so that I know he is a complete Pandit, and thus generate faith in him. Then, Atisha said: 'These arrangements of deities are very good, how do you practice?' The translator replied: 'We practice in three sessions in sequence.' Atisha said: 'It seems you do not know how to extract the essence.' Therefore, he was not very happy, and the translator's pride diminished. So he requested: 'Please teach me a concise and easy-to-practice instruction.' Atisha said: 'That's good, practicing the Dharma is possible.' The translator thought: 'It seems the master is not satisfied with the practice.' So he requested instruction, and Atisha answered as before. The translator did not understand the meaning, and requested again, Atisha said: 'Abandon this life!' At this time, the translator thought that the thirteen profound dharmas he had practiced before had become decorations for this life. So he requested: 'Now I want to do a practice of abandoning this life.' Atisha said: 'Rinchen Zangpo, if you die, my tongue will be cut off. Now you must leave.' The translator expressed great disappointment, and then said: 'Now I must do a practice of abandoning this life.' So he wrote in ink on the outer door: 'Yoga master Rinchen Zangpo, from now until Buddhahood, if you go out from this door, may the heads of the Buddhas of the three times be shattered into a thousand pieces.' Written on the middle door of the three-story building of Kha che Temple. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
