May I, in times of poverty and destitution, become an inexhaustible treasure, always present before them, providing all kinds of necessities. As long as beings are sick, may I be their doctor and medicine, and the attendant who cares for their illnesses. This aligns with the content of 'Bodhicharyavatara'. Here, the order of the four means of gathering (giving, kind speech, beneficial action, and shared interests) is reversed compared to other scriptures, showing the result first and then the cause, similar to the 'Prajnaparamita Sutra' which first shows omniscience and then its cause. These four means of gathering are the supreme methods for maturing beings in the past, present, and future. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: 'Those who have gathered, will gather, and are gathering, all rely on this principle, therefore, this is the path for maturing sentient beings.' It is also the supreme method for gathering retinues. As the treatise says: 'Those who possess the gathering of retinues, truly rely on this principle.' How to gather them? Ashvaghosa says in 'The Stages of Cultivating the Mind of Enlightenment': 'With the beckoning of generosity, call them well, with pleasant words, express yourself, with common interests, establish trust, with major decisions that practice meaning, guide them.' Third, learning how to purify the Buddha-field, the place where the Buddha manifests. Purifying the Buddha-field is divided into two parts: purifying the faults of the outer vessel world and purifying the faults of the inner sentient beings. First, may all the harms of the extremely despised evil realms be completely pacified in the Buddha-field where the Bodhisattva himself attains enlightenment. For example, may warmth descend in the cold hells, may cool rain with mist descend in the hot hells, may rain of food and drink descend for the pretas, and may animals also possess the wisdom of the Dharma. As it is said in 'Bodhicharyavatara': 'May beings in hell realms, in all places, always enjoy happiness and comfort.' 'May the cold find warmth, may the great cloud of Bodhichitta arise, with immeasurable nectar, cool those afflicted by heat.' Until 'May the iron ground and so on, all become precious lands.' 'May all the earth, be without gravel or stones, smooth as the palm of the hand, soft and radiant like lapis lazuli.' The second part is divided into two aspects: purifying the retinue --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
