Pledging to eliminate faults and vowing to accomplish the merits of Nirvana. The first point is further divided into two parts: vowing to abandon the suffering of desire and vowing to eliminate the afflictions of all three realms of existence. The first point is: May I, as a Bodhisattva, in the Buddha-field where I attain enlightenment, even if beings in the desire realm merely remember me, become a friend who grants whatever is desired to those who manifest poverty; may I become a strong armor against the rain of arrows of exhaustion upon the body; may I become cool rain for the fire of sorrow burning in the mind. Just as it is said: 'May the impoverished obtain wealth! May the sorrowful and afflicted obtain joy! May the disappointed regain hope and attain perfect steadfastness!' And like: 'From now on, showers of red-hot stones, burning irons, and weapons will turn into showers of flowers.' This is in accordance with the above. The second point is: May beings in the Buddha-field where I attain enlightenment, upon remembering me, become a remedy against the poison of afflictions; may I become a stable bridge over the rivers of the three realms of existence, and may I close the gates of the lower realms. The second point is divided into two parts: vowing to establish on the path and vowing to establish on the fruit of the path. The first point is: Wherever is the Buddha-field where I attain enlightenment, even if beings merely remember my name, like grasping a rope leading to a high place, may all beings who have fallen into the abyss of existence become the four steps to climb to the summit of the three: peace, cessation, and Nirvana. Here, there is the saying of the four doors to enter the city of liberation and the four steps to climb there. The first is: the four samadhis of the doors of liberation, namely emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. The second is: the sixteen aspects of the four truths. The second point is divided into two parts: establishing on ultimate benefit and establishing on temporary happiness. The first point is: In the Buddha-field where I attain enlightenment, let alone those who are pleased with me, even those who momentarily arise with anger and hatred, if they merely remember my name, they will not fall into the lower realms and will surely accomplish perfect and complete enlightenment. Just as it is said: 'Without experiencing the suffering of the lower realms, and without practicing austerities, with a body superior to the gods, may they quickly attain Buddhahood!' This is in accordance with the scriptures. The second point is: Pledging to eliminate faults and vowing to accomplish the merits of Nirvana.
