Discussion on Consciousness (Skt: Vijñāna): The assertion that each continuum (Skt: saṃtāna) is different contradicts the teachings of the scriptures. In general, how does the consciousness (Skt: Vijñāna) of the mind (Skt: manas) that does not rely on the faculty of mind (Skt: manas-indriya) arise? Please explain. After the cessation of the six consciousnesses (eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind consciousnesses), and the faculty of mind (Skt: manas-indriya) that is different from the afflicted mind (Skt: kliṣṭa-manas), is not mentioned in the Dharma. What is the proximate cause (Skt: upādāna-hetu) of the consciousness (Skt: Vijñāna) of the mind (Skt: manas) that is the basis? Is the characteristic of that life-force wind (Skt: jīva-vāyu) recognized by the yogi himself, or is it transformed into another substance? If it is as the former, then it exists before conception and also exists after death, which is unreasonable. If the life-force wind (Skt: jīva-vāyu) does not disappear after death, then those beings, no matter which of the three realms (desire realm, form realm, formless realm) they are born in, will become mortals with life, because they are the basis for the accomplishment of the illusory body (Skt: māyā-kāya). Although practitioners of the pāramitās (perfections) can represent all dharmas (phenomena) as illusions of horses or cows, they do not actually exist there. However, here, because the wind (Skt: vāyu) that rides on concepts (Skt: vikalpa) has ceased, the wisdom (Skt: jñāna) of non-duality (Skt: advaya-jñāna), wisdom (Skt: jñāna) is the vehicle of wind (Skt: vāyu), and the illusory body (Skt: māyā-kāya) is integrated with the assembly. Apart from the dharmadhātu (realm of phenomena), there are no other dharmas (phenomena) here. Therefore, the magic (Skt: māyā) of mantra (Skt: mantra) is superior to the pāramitās (perfections). The fourth empowerment's (Skt: abhiṣeka) sequence of clear light (Skt: prabhāsvara), whose nature is self-knowing and self-illuminating, free from the grasper and the grasped, is the true meaning of sacred wisdom (Skt: jñāna). The proximate cause (Skt: upādāna-hetu) is the empowerment (Skt: abhiṣeka) of the cause and path, and the three lights (Skt: prabhāsvara) as examples, because they also exist in the state of the illusory body (Skt: māyā-kāya). After the illusory body (Skt: māyā-kāya) is accomplished, how is the sequence of clear light (Skt: prabhāsvara) practiced? By the two oral instructions (Skt: upadeśa) of 'holding completely' and 'subsequently analyzing,' the illusory body (Skt: māyā-kāya) is integrated into the nature of clear light. If the body attained through effort is integrated into clear light (Skt: prabhāsvara), wouldn't it be as futile as an elephant's bath? What is the necessity of integration? In order to eliminate attachment to illusion (Skt: māyā), because if one is attached to the illusory body (Skt: māyā-kāya), one will regard the two truths (ultimate truth and conventional truth) as separate, which will hinder the accomplishment of the non-dual union body (Skt: yuganaddha-kāya). Some later scholars believe that attachment to the illusion (Skt: māyā) of all dharmas (phenomena) is the reality of things (Skt: artha), so it does not need to be removed. If it is removed, the illusion (Skt: māyā) will become real. This view has been refuted by many scriptures and reasonings, so it will not be elaborated here. The names of the two samādhis (Skt: samādhi) that integrate into the actual clear light (Skt: prabhāsvara) are: 'Holding completely' refers to simultaneously transforming oneself and everything in the three realms (desire realm, form realm, formless realm) into the body of the deity (Skt: iṣṭadevatā) of body, speech, and mind vajra (Skt: vajra). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
