From that time onwards, it has never been interrupted. This is the Thubten (Buddhist) Academy, the four great pillars that support reason. Here, no changes will occur. May the source of benefit and happiness long endure! May it be auspicious and perfect! Om, may it be auspicious and accomplished! In the land of Tibet, when the sun of the Dharma (Bstan pa) sets, the great scholar of Tsongkha in the East, the full light of his wisdom arises. Regarding the places of view and meditation, although there are many differences from previous generations, they are all places of practice, as stated in the treatises of Sutra and Vinaya. The ultimate view of Sutra and Tantra, Mahayana and Hinayana, is Madhyamaka. Moreover, this can only be found in the treatises of the noble Chandrakirti (Zla ba). All dharmas are empty in their own nature. If it is said that one is empty of oneself, then one will fall into the extreme of annihilation. Therefore, all forms, etc., are based on what the all-knowing one sees with valid cognition. The true establishment that is refuted by the reason of proof is called self-nature, and is empty of this. All dharmas are not non-existent, and not contradictory or confusing, which becomes valid cognition. Therefore, the so-called elaboration does not explain anything other than self-nature. When searching with the reason of Madhyamaka, it cannot be found anywhere. Realizing that point is considered the view of wisdom. If one searches for true establishment and cannot find it, it is said that one has found non-truth. Even if one finds non-truth, one does not say that one has found it. This (Tsongkhapa) does not accept. Meditation is free from conceptualization, because this is the sect of the Chinese Chan masters. The meditation of a mind that clings to non-truth is called investigative meditation. Merely abiding in clarity and emptiness is considered to be without attachment, because even non-Buddhists have this. Past Tibetan meditators were said to have no antidote to ignorance (wisdom). Even if one investigates many times with reason, if one is free from conceptualization during meditation, it is only the state of Shamatha, and therefore one cannot transcend Samsara. Superior seeing is the wisdom of discernment, because this is the explanation of wisdom. Superior seeing that is free from discernment and investigation is said to be none other than the sect of the Chinese Chan master. Bliss, Clarity, and non-conceptualization are not suitable in either Shamatha or Vipassana, because this transcends the third Dhyana and is impossible in the desire realm. Regarding the collection of the five consciousnesses, whatever appears is considered to be emptiness, also because the appearance of knowledge seen externally cannot be explained as the object of Samadhi. Therefore, regarding these aspects of view, meditation, and Tantra, combining one's own reason with many Sutras and Shastras, it is said that the previous two sects must be abandoned. Nowadays, in this land of Tibet, most people accept this sect, even though many people hate it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
