Collection of Instructions by the Great Scholar Shakya Chokden skc150 - The View of the Sakya Jetsun Brothers The View of the Sakya Jetsun Brothers Homage to Manjushri (འཇམ་པའི་དབྱངས་), I will explain here the ultimate view of the two Sakya Jetsun brothers on the Dharma of emptiness. The emptiness analyzed by reasoning and the emptiness of self-nature. The former is the established meaning of cutting off exaggerations with the wisdom of hearing and thinking; the latter is only to be experienced with the wisdom arising from meditation. The former is to be experienced by meditation, and the latter is to be a means of knowing the state of reality by reasoning. I will explain here as the sutras say. If emptiness is not negated, and experienced by direct perception of yoga, it becomes an object of negation and a conceptual subject. Therefore, the emptiness to be experienced by the yogi of the two stages is the emptiness of self-nature, which is the cause of deities and mantras. However, it is not considered emptiness analyzed by reasoning, because emptiness becomes the action of the noble wisdom. In the tantras, there are two types of self-nature emptiness: self-nature co-emergent and bliss-dissolving co-emergent. The former is the common main topic of the Paramita Vehicle (ཕར་ཕྱིན་ཐེག་པ་,梵文:Pāramitāyāna,梵文罗马拟音:Pāramitāyāna,汉语字面意思:波罗蜜多乘), and the latter is the special characteristic of the Unsurpassed Vehicle, so the means of realizing it is not known elsewhere, and it is explained as uncommon. The means of realizing self-nature co-emergent, as explained in the Paramita Vehicle, is the two distinctions clearly stated by Maitreya (བྱམས་པ). What is said in the Unsurpassed Vehicle is that without relying on the wisdom of hearing and thinking and signs and examples, one realizes the inseparability of samsara and nirvana from the vase empowerment. If it is said that without relying on blessings, one cannot realize dreams and similar causes, it refers to the bliss-dissolving co-emergent. This refers to the bliss-dissolving co-emergent, which is the ultimate definitive meaning of the Vajra Vehicle. What is the proof of this? The wisdom of bliss-dissolving, which is initially accustomed to by practice, is the near cause of Vajradhara. If the emptiness established by speaking of non-duality (藏文:གཉིས་མེད་,梵文:Advaita,梵文罗马拟音:Advaita,汉语字面意思:不二) is not explained as the ultimate truth in that text, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What need is there to mention the supreme Yana (Thegpa Choktu, Mahayana)? However, regarding the reasoning of that Yana: When explaining the equality free from elaboration (Nyamshyak Trospe Tadräl, சமதா, Samatha), the necessity is particularly excellent. The established view from explaining in this way is: In the treatises of the venerable masters (Jetsün Ché, venerable teachers), When explaining freedom from extremes, regarding ultimate truth (Dön Dam, परमार्थ, Paramārtha), There is no grasping whatsoever. During practice, regarding the ultimate truth of union (Zungjuk, युगनद्ध, Yuganaddha), One should grasp the truth. And rejoice in it, such as Vajra (Dorjé, वज्र, Vajra), etc., There are fourteen kinds of names mentioned. Those who assert no self-nature (Ngowo Nyime, स्वभावशून्यता, Svabhāvaśūnyatā), Do not wish to understand emptiness (Tongnyí, शून्यता, Śūnyatā), While the pinnacle of the supreme Yana, The difference in wishing to understand is: Temporarily, other than the mind (Sem, चित्त, Citta), The difference between wishing and not wishing to know (Shéja, ज्ञेय, Jñeya), This is precisely the characteristic of the supreme Yana. Everything is the wisdom (Yeshé, ज्ञान, Jñāna) of the Dharmadhatu (Chödbying, धर्मधातु). The final turning of the wheel (Khorlo Tama, धर्मचक्र, Dharmacakra) is just as it sounds, The Madhyamika (Uma Pa, माध्यमिक, Mādhyamika) who accepts, The recognition of its Dharmata (Chönyi, धर्मता) is in accordance with mantra (Sang Ngak, मन्त्र, Mantra), And the innate nature (Rangshyin Lhenkyé, सहज, Sahaja). In the Kalachakra (Dükyi Khorlo, कालचक्र, Kālacakra) and other scriptures, With the reasoning of one and different, What is it to establish the innate nature upon oneself? Explaining in this way is to prevent the clinging to permanence, The conceptual thought (Tokpa, विकल्प, Vikalpa), What is to be experienced is only the emptiness that possesses all Excellent qualities. Thus, in the summary of Manjushri's (Jampal, मञ्जुश्री, Mañjuśrī) Viewpoint: The analysis of the aggregates (Phungpo, स्कन्ध, Skandha) is emptiness, Like a tree in water, without essence. The emptiness that possesses all excellent Qualities, does not change in that way. There it is said that the analyzed Emptiness is not to be meditated upon. What is the necessity at that time? To avert the conceptual thoughts of clinging to one or different, Because both are conceptual thoughts. Then, the reasoning of one and different Is not entering into the reality of things, But will it become an admission of true existence? For everything that becomes the object of sound and conceptual thought, Speculative thought engages in that. But for the Dharma that transcends the realm of consciousness (Namshé, विज्ञान, Vijñāna), Because it is of the nature of Vajra, Sound and conceptual thought Cannot destroy it. Some say that in this mantra yana, Because wisdom (Yeshé, ज्ञान, Jñāna) is admitted to be truly existent, It will become the view of the Cittamatra (Semtsam, चित्तमात्र, Cittamātra) school. That is a contradictory inference. As long as there is no Admission of the non-duality of grasper and grasped, Then wisdom itself will not exist, How can its characteristics be explained? Admitting the non-duality of grasper and grasped, This is only established in the Madhyamika (Uma Pa, माध्यमिक, Mādhyamika), It is impossible in the Cittamatra and other schools, The venerable masters have said so. Some say that the view of the three tantras (Gyü Sum, तंत्र, Tantra) Is also established in Cittamatra. Where can one find A Cittamatrin who admits that the grasped is not truly existent? Maitreya (Jampa, मैत्रेय, Maitreya). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
