As the treatise, it was not refuted. The emptiness that is hidden, It is said that it cannot be realized without relying on signs. Although it does not agree with the oral tradition, It agrees with the commentary of Ngok Lo. Auspicious! Om Svasti Siddham: The new tradition of Tsongkha in the East, When a hundred years have passed since the East, The two previous traditions explain it as follows: Phenomena established by valid cognition, Are not merely established nominally, The emptiness that is negated is self-empty, What other way is there to desire other-emptiness? It is nothing more than a vulgar view. If the conventional truth is denied, Because it has never existed from the beginning, Then the fault of annihilation will occur, Why is it not similar to the horns of a rabbit, Which have never existed from the beginning? If some of the meanings established by valid cognition, Are not seen when examined by reasoning, Then the emptiness is the cause of the destruction of things, The excessiveness is blamed by Chandra. If the absence of truth is denied in the analysis, Then the use of truth is achieved, The way to negate the object of negation, Is not beyond non-affirming negation, This is just an empty word. If dependent arising must be established, This is not the tradition of Chandra. The meaning of whether or not, Things are established in mutual dependence, Is clearly explained by Chandra. If it is necessary to establish existence, By the reasoning that eliminates the extreme of non-existence, Then the reasoning that eliminates the two extremes, Will contradict the explanation and not be mistaken. Although it is said that this reasoning nominally, Negates existence and establishment as truth, Then by negating the two, Both will be completely established. The so-called self-character and self-nature, When emptiness is explained as a phenomenon, Is it not established by your valid cognition? What is the object of negation of the sign? The self-nature that is explained as the object of negation, Whose self-nature is it? All phenomena have only two self-natures, Conventional and ultimate, There is no self-nature of anything, That is said to be truly established. If the self-nature of that which is truly established, How can the absence of self-nature be established? Although the meaning is not self-nature, It is said that there is self-nature in the mind of thought, The phenomenon is established by valid cognition, But it is never established by valid cognition, The negation of what is imputed by thought, Is the vulgarity of emptiness. Before the certainty of the absence of truth, It is necessary to first ascertain the truth, It is not the meaning of the scriptures of conduct, Such as the imputed object. Because there are no phenomena that are not dependently established, Therefore, when the truth is denied, The absence of truth is also not existent, This is the intention of the scriptures. In short, the emptiness of self-nature, This way of explaining emptiness that came later, Not to mention that it is not in the scriptures, No old Tibetan has ever said it. When meditating on the two, calm and insight, The way to recognize their nature, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is an analysis: If you consider the clarity of the cessation of conceptual thoughts arising from improper attention as quiescence (shamatha), then the clarity of conceptual thoughts arising from proper attention, if not blocked, is also quiescence, which, if you accept, will turn into distraction. If you accept that as well, wouldn't it become the quiescence of the Heshang (referring to the Chinese Chan tradition)? What you describe as the clarity sinking down, lacking mindfulness and awareness, let alone vipassanā (insight meditation), from any perspective, wouldn't it become your conceptual thought? Many sutras and treatises explain vipassanā as the nature of conceptual thought. The literal meaning of the many scriptures you cite is wisdom born of thought, while the actual vipassanā is born of meditation, which is universally accepted. If the nature of vipassanā is conceptual analysis, then how can the union of quiescence and insight be explained? If quiescence is also conceptual analysis, then quiescence would become agitation (restlessness). You believe that during observation and meditation, one should slightly abide in a state of equanimity. If there is no observation at all while abiding in equanimity, then it would become the meditation of the Heshang. If there is observation, then what is the difference between observation and meditation? Like the fire born from rubbing two pieces of wood together burns itself, it is explained that samadhi (the state of quiescence) is free from conceptual analysis. Then what is the vipassanā of abiding in equanimity? Doesn't it need to be explained as direct perception, free from conceptualization, and without error? Where can the basis of direct perception and vipassanā be found? Because in this Prajnaparamita (Perfection of Wisdom), the actual vipassanā that has not been preceded by wisdom born of thought is not accepted, therefore, the cause is named after the effect. For example, the method of the nine stages of abiding in the mind is named after quiescence, and so on. In short, there are two types of vipassanā: observational and unwavering. This निश्चित (藏文:ངེས་,梵文天城体:निश्चित,梵文罗马拟音:niścita,汉语字面意思: निश्चित) is definitely from Kamalashila's 'Stages of Meditation'. Because in the great treatises, it is said that realizing the meaning of the sacred wisdom that is non-dualistic in terms of grasper and grasped, one can eliminate all obscurations through the vipassanā of experiencing it, as explained in the 'Ratnagotravibhāga' and the 'Mahayoga Tantra'. If it is not like this, luminosity and all perfections cannot exist. To realize it, hearing and thinking are explained in Prajnaparamita, and the stages of empowerment are explained in Mantra. Details can be learned from other sources. What has been said above is the difference between the views and meditation of later and earlier generations. Let the scriptures, reasoning, pith instructions, and practitioners be the witnesses to what is true. This is an analysis made by Shakya Chokden in order to distinguish between truth and falsehood. May there be auspiciousness and perfection! May there be virtue! 《The Great Meditator Yeshe Zangpo's Reply: The Key to Understanding the Definitive Meaning of How to Recognize Various Views》ends.
