Regarding the explanation of the three pitakas (Tibetan: སྡེ་གསུམ་པོ།), how the later denies the former, although it is necessary to explain, one should not fall into the mistaken understanding of the former's tenets. In the tenet of the Vaibhashika (Sanskrit: Vaibhashika, Tibetan: བྱེ་བྲག་སྨྲ་བ།), there is the assertion of entering the stream-entry (Sanskrit: Srotaāpanna, Tibetan: རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་) all at once; and in the tenet of the Sautrāntika (Sanskrit: Sautrāntika, Tibetan: མདོ་སྡེ་པ་), there are difficult points such as the ten bhumis (Sanskrit: Daśa-bhūmi, Tibetan: ས་བཅུ་), the sixteen emptinesses (Sanskrit: Ṣoḍaśa-śūnyatā, Tibetan: སྟོང་ཉིད་བཅུ་དྲུག་), and the three kayas (Sanskrit: Trikāya, Tibetan: སྐུ་གསུམ་). If in the Abhidharma-samuccaya (Sanskrit: Abhidharma-samuccaya, Tibetan: མངོན་པ་ཀུན་ལས་བཏུས་པ་), it is said that there is no explanation of the Mind-Only (Sanskrit: Vijñānavāda, Tibetan: སེམས་ཙམ་གྲུབ་མཐའ་) tenets, then there are very many difficult points. If it is said that the Sūtrālaṃkāra (Sanskrit: Sūtrālaṃkāra, Tibetan: མདོ་སྡེ་རྒྱན་) is a Mind-Only treatise, it is like wanting to include sentient beings who have broken their lineage (Tibetan: རིགས་ཆད་ཀྱི། སེམས་ཅན།), then there are very many things to explain. Although the Yogācāra (Sanskrit: Yogācāra, Tibetan: རྣལ་འབྱོར་སྤྱོད་པ་པ་) is usually considered synonymous with Mind-Only, it does not distinguish between true appearances (Sanskrit: satya-ākāra, Tibetan: རྣམ་བདེན་) and false appearances (Sanskrit: mithyā-ākāra, Tibetan: རྣམ་བརྫུན་). What does Jetsun Tsemö (Tibetan: རྗེ་བཙུན་རྩེ་མོ།) mean by saying that the views of Mind-Only and Madhyamaka (Sanskrit: Madhyamaka, Tibetan: དབུ་མའི་) are common, being non-dual (Sanskrit: advaya, Tibetan: གཉིས་མེད་), self-aware (Sanskrit: sva-saṃvedana, Tibetan: རང་རིག་), and self-illuminating (Sanskrit: sva-prakāśa, Tibetan: རང་གསལ་བ།)? The so-called 'other-powered truly established' (Sanskrit: paratantra-siddha, Tibetan: གཞན་དབང་བདེན་གྲུབ་) is a Mind-Only view, but in the ultimate view of Yogācāra, there is no such explanation in the scriptures. Although the Yogācāra scriptures are as vast as an ocean, in the Madhyamaka of the Perfection of Wisdom (Sanskrit: paramārtha-madhyamaka, Tibetan: ཕ་རོལ་ཕྱིན་པའི་དབུ་མ་), the Prāsaṅgikas (Sanskrit: Prāsaṅgika, Tibetan: ཐལ་) and Svātantrikas (Sanskrit: Svātantrika, Tibetan: རང་) often call it Mind-Only, But if one says that it is nihilistic, then the Madhyamaka treatises do not have a consistent explanation for the two founders of the chariot path (referring to Nāgārjuna and Asaṅga). Therefore, it is very difficult to consider the view of the tree as common with Yogācāra and call it Mind-Only. After that, if saying that Madhyamaka only explains Prāsaṅgika and Svātantrika, then is it explaining the ultimate view, or is it explaining something other than that? If it is like the first case, then all the oral transmission commentaries are said to be poisonous views arising from hearing and thinking. If it is like the second case, then what does it mean to say 'there is a view superior to the freedom from elaboration of the Perfection of Wisdom'? Please, all you explainers, speak clearly. In the classification of Madhyamaka that explains selflessness (Sanskrit: svabhāva-śūnya, Tibetan: ངོ་བོ་ཉིད་མེད་), if it is divided into five types and it is said 'not the supreme non-abiding' (Tibetan: རབ་ཏུ་མི་གནས་མཆོག་མིན་), then what is the basis for 'supreme' (Tibetan: མཆོག་)? Where do these five divisions come from? It is difficult to find a basis in non-dual wisdom (Sanskrit: advaya-jñāna, Tibetan: གཉིས་མེད་རྣམ་རྒྱལ་), and there are few standards that are the same as the Vaibhashika. Who is called an illusionist (Tibetan: སྒྱུ་མ་པ་)? Is the Prāsaṅgika view refuted here? If it is said to be 'non-abiding' (Tibetan: མི་གནས་), then it is difficult to understand. Similarly, the Svātantrika view is also negated, so what is the point of explaining Madhyamaka? Who considers 'non-abiding' to have two situations: union (Sanskrit: yuganaddha, Tibetan: ཟུང་འཇུག་) and annihilation? Because both of these views are refuted by this treatise, how can 'non-abiding' be explained as the highest? Candrakīrti (Sanskrit: Candrakīrti, Tibetan: ཟླ་གྲགས་) does not accept Svātantrika. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
