In order to preserve the scriptures from being damaged, they were accurately translated into Tibetan according to the meaning of the words. In order to refute those who misuse secret mantras, treatises were composed, and with a grand tradition of teaching, the banner of the undying doctrine was raised, and the immaculate white umbrella of practice was held up. Thereafter, the fearless and glorious Sakya (Sakya, an important school of Tibetan Buddhism), an emanation of Manjushri's sharp wisdom, took from this ocean of Sutra and Tantra teachings. In order to distinguish between Dharma and non-Dharma, gatherings of many accomplished ones were assembled, and through the threefold sequence of study, reflection, and meditation, all the impurities on the jewel of Shakyamuni's teachings were cleansed, and the banner of teaching and practice was erected at the summit. In particular, regarding the profound practice of the Three Vows (sdom gsum) as the root of the Sutra and Tantra teachings, in order to obtain it and the methods to protect it, this great treatise that dispels delusion and brings joy was composed. The boundaries of obtaining, abandoning, and protecting the Pratimoksha vows (so thar sdom pa), the distinctions between good and evil, acceptance and rejection, and the various classifications of karmic results, are all clearly explained without confusion, just like in the Vinaya ( 'dul ba) and the vast Abhidharma (mngon pa). The Mahayana Pratimoksha vows (theg chen so thar 'jug sdom) as a branch, are logically summarized, and the ways in which the Bodhicitta (mind of enlightenment) of Madhyamaka (dbu) and Yogacara (sems) are generated separately, are explained as they are without mixing, and it is the essence of the Mahayana Sutras (theg chen mdo sde). Regarding the erroneous statements of practicing the profound path without empowerment (dbang bskur), or merely considering blessings (byin rlabs) as empowerment, or not understanding that empowerment is the root of the path, this great treatise can prevent them. Regarding the conditions that disciples who receive empowerment should possess, the qualities that the guru who gives empowerment should possess, and the various classifications of the mandala (dkyil 'khor) in which empowerment is performed, this treatise can prevent the erroneous practices within them. Where to practice, by whom to practice, and the various classifications of the generation stage (skyed rim) of what to practice, and where to perfect, by whom to perfect, and the various classifications of the completion stage (rdzogs rim) of what to perfect, this treatise explains how to properly perform them as they are. Although there is no difference in the objects of view of the two Mahayana schools, from the way of viewing, the way in which the various classifications of Mahamudra (phyag chen) arise, this treatise also clearly explains. This treatise, which can grasp the meaning of the occasion simply by reading the text, and whose depth is difficult to fully fathom, is the key to opening the hundred doors of Sutra and Tantra, what knot of Dharma is there that it cannot untie? Just as the clear and immaculate moon is reflected in the delightful and clear lake, truly presenting countless images, all those who are skilled in creation and possess knowledge, ride on the chariot that knows the two truths (conventional truth and ultimate truth), and govern Dharma and politics. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
