With logic, you do not accept less than two *pramāṇas* (sources of valid knowledge) or something not included therein. Your unique explanation is that direct perception (*pratyakṣa*) is non-conceptual and non-mistaken. In this context, merely the mind of attachment, immediately identified as a concept, is merely awareness uncorrupted by the causes of delusion. Although explained thus, in the view of the Mind-Only school, you, great-minded one, assert that what is needed is to be free from false concepts and uncorrupted by the fundamental causes of delusion. Although the system of *pramāṇa* and result is explained with many words, you assert that the result is self-awareness (*sva-saṃvedana*), without another. As an establishing *pramāṇa*, there is no explanation other than the aspects of the apprehended and the apprehender. When measuring the measurable, you elucidate four aspects; I prostrate to you. Since there is no more or less between the measurable object and knowledge, there is also no distinction between inner and outer measurers. Since the actual measurable is not other than knowledge, you gather it into self-awareness (*sva-saṃvedana*); I prostrate to you. At that time, if someone asks, 'How is the existence of external objects proven?' If the Sautrāntika explains by inferring the distinction of causes, you say that that *hetu* (reason) is of dissimilar class and is an established *hetu*; I prostrate to you. Through the logic of simultaneous determination and the so-called establishment of two aspects, to those who speak of objects, you decide whether or not there is an establishment of understanding objects, and you establish it as Mind-Only; I prostrate to you. When you divide inferential *pramāṇa* into two types, you distinguish them by the difference of the measurable, the to-be-established, and the three aspects of establishment, and the sphere of entry for both is the same. Since they are fundamentally related, it is non-deceptive. These three aspects are what is known by oneself, and also the Mind-Only that appears in the collection of names and words that show to others, is also inferential *pramāṇa*, because it possesses that characteristic (*lakṣaṇa*). You say this in the Mind-Only treatises; I prostrate to you. What you have said, concerning the system of the to-be-established, although the author of the *Pramāṇavārttika* has explained in detail, you saw that the people of the Land of Snows explained everything perversely, and in order to explain that meaning correctly, you blessed some future commentaries; I prostrate to you. Thus, by composing it, may inexhaustible virtue eliminate darkness, scattering a multitude of rays of light, may I obtain the ability to make the Doctrine of the Sage flourish! *Śubham* (Auspicious)!

Homage to Manjushri! Glorious, completely victorious over all, possessing the face of Chos-kyi Grags-pa (a great Buddhist logician), I will express his realization, which is like expanding the light of reason with a garland of white lotuses, called 'Expanding the Light of Reason - A Narration of Chos-kyi Grags-pa's Realization'. Sun of Dharma, possessing the youth of accomplishment, Always seated upon the throne of fame, Skilled in spreading countless lights of reason, To that one prophesied by the Victorious Ones, I pay homage. Moon of Dharma, possessing the white light of fame, Mindful of the western mountains where opponents decline, Causing the Buddha's teachings to rise on the eastern mountain peak, To that one worthy of many's homage, I pay respect. Drawn by a hundred horses of differing forms, Driven by a charioteer skilled in scripture and reason, Skilled in showing the path of all systems, To that founder of the chariot's tradition, I pay respect. From the smiling face of Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra), The stream of Dharma gently flows, A dancer of fame, bringing joy, Comfortably proceeding on the path of scripture and reason. Manjushri, with wisdom, tames the elephants of the directions, Illuminating the darkness with the sun of reason, Your great compassion and wisdom, Clearly appear in the sky, nowhere else to be found. The fundamental connection of establishment and refutation, And the necessity of 'without this, it does not arise', Any sign that is contrary to the dissimilar class, Is said to be the establisher of 'without this, it does not arise'. If one understands these, then the four Vedas scriptures, Along with their authors, are not established as valid cognition ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,valid cognition). The reason for claiming the Vedas are true is: Because there is no contradiction with the dissimilar class. After explaining that direct perception and hidden phenomena cannot be establishers, By explaining how to establish the extremely hidden phenomena through the three examinations, The difference between the Vedas and, The Buddha's teachings are distinguished. To establish the Bhagavan (Lord) as valid cognition, It is necessary to rely on the connection explained in the Svartha chapter (reasoning for oneself). Therefore, first please explain, How to establish the Svartha inference of valid cognition. To establish valid cognition, it is necessary to explain great compassion, And the way of familiarizing oneself with the selflessness of persons. Then, in the direct perception chapter, the Dharma-nairatmya (selflessness of phenomena), Is extensively explained, this is the path to Sarvajnana (omniscience). In the face of those heretics who claim a self, Holding non-consciousness as the proximate cause of consciousness, This is unreasonable because it contradicts the constant and extreme, Reasoning, thereby clearly revealing the good path to fortunate rebirth. To those heretics who claim permanence, Pointing out that claiming a self and promising liberation, Are contradictory, thereby for those who desire liberation, Explaining that the view of selflessness is the path to liberation. Through familiarizing oneself in countless lifetimes with great compassion and the view of selflessness, The combination of these two, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
