Regarding past forms, sounds, etc., without abandoning them, yet being attached to them, considering this defilement as something to be abandoned, and enjoying the satisfaction of desires. For this situation, the great accomplished ones have clearly explained the rationality of not abandoning the basis. Through the practice of great yogis, there is no mention of abandoning the object to be purified. It is contradictory to say that what is not abandoned should be abandoned. If there is not even the concept of abandoning what should be abandoned, then one might as well directly become a Buddha. Even if attachment, etc., are themselves to be abandoned, but because they are objects to be purified, they should not be abandoned. Then, in the ultimate truth and conventional truth, the attachment that is considered an object to be purified is the essence of Amitabha (Tibetan: འོད་དཔག་མེད་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अमिताभ, Sanskrit Romanization: Amitābha, Chinese literal meaning: Immeasurable Light). Amitabha is liberated from attachment, etc., therefore he becomes a Buddha. Therefore, for all phenomena, through distinguishing between imputation and suchness, two truths are established. This is the basis of all sutras and tantras. Regarding the distinctions of imputed phenomena, etc., in the Yogacara school, it is explained in the 'Ornament of Clear Realization' by the venerable Tsemon Drakpa. Then, Tsemon Drakpa, in the 'Ornament of the Guhyasamaja Tantra', applies 'other-powered' to imputed phenomena, and also applies 'perfected' to 'other-powered'. What do you say about this? When we are asked, we determine that all imputed phenomena are merely appearances of the mind, and there is nothing else besides. The appearances of the mind are also determined to be merely wisdom, and there is nothing else besides. Thus, these are merely the names of objects to be purified and means of purification. It is for the sake of those who delight in deceiving others with their teachings to be cautious. This treatise, entitled 'A Clear Explanation of the Distinction Between What is to be Purified and What Purifies: A Good Saying, All Complete,' is now complete. Part Two: A Discussion on the Nature of What is to be Purified. Auspicious! Homage to Vajradhara, who with his wisdom encompasses all that is knowable. Now, I will speak on the second part of the analysis of what is to be purified, entitled 'All-Pervading Joy'. Those who explain the glorious Guhyasamaja say that the order of beings' birth and the order of death are the essence of what is to be purified and the two orders. The means of purification are the two orders, and the application of the two orders is the intermediate state (Bardo). Birth is conventional truth, and death is ultimate truth. Although this is what is directly taught, they must refer to each other, because both birth and death need to be divided into two truths. Otherwise, it would be impossible for the order of birth to undergo transformation. When practicing the order of death, it would be impossible to abandon the object. To this, some think that the object to be purified is the conventional truth of... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is indeed necessary to be certain of this, because permanent things cannot be purified through ultimate truth. The scriptures state that the five skandhas (aggregates) and the five kleshas (afflictions) are the objects of purification. Ultimate truth is not the object of purification; it has not been stated in any instance. Failing to understand the non-affirming negation of ultimate truth is a mistake, as one cannot explain it to others. Death is Prajnaparamita (perfection of wisdom), the ultimate truth of the noble ones, the actual object of purification, and the actual object of the completion stage. This is the view held in the Guhyasamaja (Tantra). In the Hevajra (Tantra) lineage, when explaining the objects of purification for the fifteen selflessness goddesses, the object of purification for the Dakinis (sky dancers) is explained as the Dharmadhatu (realm of phenomena). Sakya Jetsun Rinpoche (a title of respect) of the six lineages stated that the object of purification for Vajradhara (the diamond holder) is the Dharmadhatu, and he taught that attachment and conceptualization towards it should be purified. So, will the objects of purification for the Buddhas of the six lineages become one? Even if it is one, due to the individual differences in Dharma nature, it is explained that there are many methods of purification. It must be said that the purity of all things is suchness (tathata). Consider these words. If one says that the purity of suchness is no different from emptiness, then how does one explain the purity of self-awareness? If Chandrakirti (representative of the Madhyamaka school) believes that only emptiness is supreme and acknowledges the purity of self-awareness, then isn't it contradictory to use the reasoning of refutation, such as 'one cannot cut oneself with the edge of a sword or the tip of a fingernail, and even a man with an axe cannot cut himself'? This treatise, titled 'A Delightful Discourse on the Various Establishments of Objects of Purification,' is thus completed. Consider the establishment of the mandala that is primordially established. Auspicious! I prostrate to Vajradhara, who intends to benefit others with compassion, and contemplate the establishment of the mandala that is primordially established. When listening to and explaining the Dharma, those who follow the Dharma, when listening and explaining with words, related to their respective Dharma natures, cannot exist outside of the Dharmadhatu. Otherwise, the unspecified result thrown by karma and afflictions cannot have the essence of virtue, nor can it be primordially established. So, isn't it the case that the bell-bearer (possibly referring to a commentator) said that the unspecified nature of beings is the mandala that is primordially established? In order to have those who follow faith abandon ordinary conceptualizations, it is said there, and becoming accustomed to it, there is no fault, possessing qualities, when clarity reaches its extreme, in order to pacify into the conventional Dharmadhatu. For example, just as the four postures of Vajradhara dissolve into the Dharmadhatu. Furthermore, the scriptures also say this. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
