Then, showing all the deeds of perfect enlightenment in order, 'May the spontaneously accomplished and continuous vision of wisdom quickly arise in the minds of all sentient beings, including the patrons.' Say this three times. Then say: 'May all beings, through this virtue, like the youth Norzang (a virtuous youth), please the holy Lama with an ocean of qualities.' Prayers for ordinary people to follow virtue, and dedicating the merits of one's own deeds. The second part includes: dedicating the merits of one's own deeds, and for that purpose, praying to follow the merits of others. The first part is: For the merits done by himself, if he has already dedicated them as the cause of higher realms and definite goodness during his lifetime, then there is no need to dedicate them again, because the dedication made by himself during his lifetime is the best. If he has not dedicated them before, or has dedicated them for the sake of this life, or for the sake of higher realms in the future, but has not dedicated them to great Bodhi, then it is necessary to dedicate them there. The method is as follows: A relative of the deceased, such as a Lama, a disciple, or a parent, who has sincere love from the bottom of his heart, can accomplish this dedication, because he has great influence over his affairs, just as in the state of being alive. If they and oneself do not know how to dedicate as it is, then offer a gift known as a 'dedication offering' to a virtuous friend, and then, as he has taught, the relative also single-mindedly aspires with his mind, and it will be accomplished. The order of verbal recitation is: 'Please let the Sangha and relatives and friends make a joint aspiration,' and then from 'Buddhas of the ten directions' to 'Please consider.' The deceased, so-and-so, from beginningless samsara, initiated by the roots of virtue without attachment and without ignorance, the merits and virtues arising from generosity, ethics, and meditation, what he has done himself, encouraged others to do, and rejoiced in what others have done without being encouraged, etc., all pure virtuous deeds, the power that has not been interrupted and wasted by anger or great wrong views, and the accumulation of merit and wisdom that strengthens, relying on these, the deceased, so-and-so --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May I, for the sake of all sentient beings as infinite as the sky, attain the perfect and complete Buddhahood. May I always engage in the extraordinary practice of a Bodhisattva. May I accomplish the Dharmas of the Buddhas, and may I see the pure refuge of the Buddhas, like an ocean. Furthermore, through the power of these, may I be reborn in the happy realms of the heavens, endowed with the seven qualities of heaven. May I never be separated from the seven noble riches. In particular, may I obtain a human body endowed with the eighteen freedoms and advantages. May I never, even for a moment, be influenced by negative spiritual friends or bad companions. May I meet virtuous spiritual friends who teach the sacred Dharma correctly. May I be delighted to practice the profound and vast sacred Dharma, and may I have the fortune to practice in this way. May I naturally learn the ten virtues. May I certainly be liberated from the great ocean of suffering in samsara. May I quickly transcend the four maras and the two inferior grounds (referring to the grounds of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas). May I generate the supreme mind of Bodhicitta. May I train in the six Paramitas. May I diligently practice the yoga practices that are in accordance with the path to enlightenment until perfected. May I cut through the proliferation of clinging to characteristics with the view of the Middle Way, free from extremes. May I manifestly gather the accumulations of qualities through the practice of union. May I never regress from the state of perfect enlightenment. May my essence be spontaneously accomplished, and may my activities be continuous, with enlightened activity equal to the sky. Recite three times: 'I uphold the sacred Dharma of the Buddhas, I make the conduct of Bodhisattvas manifest everywhere, I diligently practice the conduct of the Good, may I always practice in future kalpas.' For this purpose, we pray to rejoice in the virtuous deeds done by others. Secondly, through the power of the Vajra Master's mantra, or the compassion of the virtuous spiritual friend, or the strength of the love of close relatives, visualize the deceased as if they were alive, sitting in front of you. First, recite 'Please listen', and then for the sake of this deceased person, the surviving relatives begin in this way: Deceased relative, we take your belongings from your lifetime as a basis, and with the addition of items provided by close relatives and friends, we offer them to the Lama and the Three Jewels. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
