The first line: Through the feet, one can perfectly accumulate all the roots of virtue that are in accordance with merit; the second line: Through the union, one can perfectly accumulate all the roots of virtue that are in accordance with liberation. These two encompass the discipline of proximate conduct and the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas. Guiding without aging or death is the cause of the Sambhogakaya (form body). First, the seven-branch practice is performed. Second, making the accumulation of the two accumulations (merit and wisdom) meaningful is encompassed by the seven branches. Making the accumulation of the two accumulations meaningful: Among them, the first five branches are used to accumulate the two accumulations, and the two branches of turning the wheel of Dharma and not passing into nirvana make the attainment meaningful, because they are the branches of turning the wheel of Dharma and not passing into nirvana. Although both the aspiration of 'Entering the Bodhisattva's Way' and the 'King of Prayers' equally accumulate merit through the seven branches, the difference lies in the distinction of dedication. For the benefit of oneself and sentient beings, one aspires to attain Bodhi, and leaves oneself behind, dedicating it to all other sentient beings so that they may attain perfect Bodhi. As it is said in the sutra: 'Here, I am the seed of omniscience.' In the 'King of Prayers', it says: 'Everything is dedicated for the sake of perfect Bodhi.' If the dative case is added to 'I', it is incorrect. Merely adding the agentive case to 'I' is not a problem. Therefore, the first is divided into two parts: perfecting the accumulation of merit and perfecting the accumulation of wisdom. The first part is further divided into two parts: confessing sins and generating the conventional Bodhicitta, represented by dedication. The first part is: 'I confess.' What is confessed? 'All the sins I have committed.' Who confesses? 'I.' How is it confessed? By visualizing the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas present before one. How many sins are there? The word 'all that has been done' clearly indicates not only the sins of this life, but also the sins of previous lives, because it is related to 'being under the control of the mind.' 'Under the control of the mind' means being under the control of the seeds of affliction on the basis of the fundamental consciousness, or being under the control of the afflictions of the mind consciousness. The second part is: the agent 'I', the object 'Bodhi', the purpose 'never to be exhausted'. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: What is the cause? A: There are two types: the lineage of increase and the lineage of inherent nature. The first is: May the inexhaustible enlightenment of the Form Body arise from whatever merit I newly generate through the accumulation of the three actions of body, speech, and mind. The second is: Included by the word 'and,' not only the former, but may the inexhaustible enlightenment of the Dharma Body arise from the seed of all-knowingness (Tibetan: ཀུན་མཁྱེན་ས་བོན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: सर्वज्ञताबीज, Sanskrit Romanization: sarvajñatābīja, Literal meaning: seed of omniscience), that is, the lineage of inherent nature. Here, the word 'inexhaustible' is to distinguish it from inferior Nirvana, because in that state, the roots of virtue and qualities such as the aspects of enlightenment are exhausted. Here, it is necessary to dedicate the lineage of inherent nature to perfect enlightenment, which is the view of the Yogacara school. Moreover, when dedicating, if the roots of virtue are exhausted in the Nirvana without remainder, it may not be possible to transform them into perfect enlightenment. Dedicating the newly accumulated merit to perfect enlightenment is the view of the common vehicle, because if it is not dedicated, the merit can only become a contributing factor, but may not become a contributing factor to liberation. The second is: offering, rejoicing in the virtues of others, prostrating, and generating the supreme mind of ultimate enlightenment. The first is: I rejoice. In what do I rejoice? I rejoice in whatever offerings are made to the Buddhas and their retinues in the ocean of realms in the ten directions, and whatever the Buddhas rejoice in with their wisdom. This can also represent the offerings made by oneself. Offerings, as stated in the Flower Ornament Sutra: 'Excellent flowers,' etc., there are two types: supreme offerings and unsurpassed offerings. As stated in the Supreme Glorious Perfection of Wisdom Sutra: 'Holding, reciting the Perfection of Wisdom,' etc., up to 'rightly attending to it,' these are all extensive rituals of offering to all the Tathagatas. After offering, what should be done? Confess all sins. What is the difference between this and the previous confession? The difference lies in the general and the specific. The former is only confessing general sins, while the latter is confessing sins related to offering to the Buddhas, such as being stingy with offerings. The second is: I rejoice in all merits. By rejoicing in the merits made by oneself and others, they increase more and more, and it is said that one obtains equal merit. The third is: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
