Explaining 'perfecting the perfection of giving through the way of non-regression' means: all things are of the nature of destruction, and having realized this with wisdom, may the perfection of giving in the conventional truth be perfected. Secondly, regarding discipline, there are also two aspects: one is to establish the discipline that possesses both skillful means and wisdom, and the other is to explain how to practice this discipline. The first is: 'discipline without faults,' connecting it as such. In terms of terminology, the faults of discipline, meaning there are no transgressions of the three doors of body, speech, and mind, and with the distinction of wisdom, not clinging to the three spheres, possessing pure discipline. The second is: thus, one must guard discipline in a way that does not deviate from the two truths. This is shown as: may the perfection of discipline be perfected through discipline without arrogance. Thirdly, there are also two aspects: one is to establish the patience of the union of the two truths, and the other is to explain how to practice this patience. The first is: patience like the earth, accepting suffering; patience like water, certainly understanding the Dharma; patience like fire, not minding harm, this is conventional patience. In the ultimate sense, like the element of wind, not abiding in any object, and without anger, this is ultimate patience. The second is: may the perfection of patience be perfected in such a way. Fourthly, there are also two aspects. The first is: the distinction of the ultimate truth is: steadfast diligence without laziness. That is, not focusing on the two to be abandoned. The distinction of conventional skillful means is: in terminology, the diligence initiated by the three doors of body, speech, and mind. What is called steadfastness is not being swayed by the works of demons. The second is: thus, may the perfection of diligence be perfected by the three doors of body, speech, and mind possessing strength. Fifthly, there are also two aspects. The first is: samadhi like illusion, in the ultimate sense, is non-attachment samadhi. The samadhi of valiant going is, in terminology, not being shaken by opposing factors. The second is: thus, may the perfection of meditation be perfected by uniting the two truths, or by diamond-like samadhi. Sixthly, there are also two aspects. The first is: in the ultimate sense, it arises from the distinction of the way of realization. The wisdom of the three doors of liberation, and the wisdom of realizing equality in the three times. The distinction of the way of realizing the conventional truth, also, means not only the former but also understanding the three times: past, future, and present. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The three wisdoms are made manifest. (This is the accomplishment of the first wisdom.) The second is: May the wisdom of such a path, the pāramitā, be perfected! (This is the accomplishment of the second wisdom.) Thus, the perfection of the six perfections is the perfectly complete Buddha. To speak the truth of accomplishment for the fulfillment of this aspiration: The second part is the dedication, wishing that this aspiration be fulfilled as it was made. May all the thoughts of myself, the one who makes the aspiration, be completely fulfilled. By the power of what? By making such an aspiration, praised by all the Buddhas, rejoicing and agreeing, and by the light of one's own wisdom, splendor, blazing like a flame, and by the power of the bodhisattva's diligence. The proof of this is that all the Buddhas and bodhisattvas help to fulfill this aspiration. Showing its benefits, it is said: Thus, after directly explaining the aspiration of Maitreya, the Lord Shakyamuni spoke of its benefits: As mentioned above, the one who is fully known by the name 'Maitreya' will practice the conduct of enlightenment, perfect the six pāramitās, and gradually abide on the ten bhūmis. Thus, concerning the aspiration of Maitreya. In the sacred land of India, there were previous translations, and there were conflicts between the wise and the unwise. Although some commentaries are known, without examining the meaning of the words, only with the discriminating mind of much hearing, speculating on the words of the Victorious One, I dedicate this to the delight of Mipham. May this virtue cause the vitality of my mind, riding on the chariot of aspiration, to travel happily on the smooth plain of the bodhisattva's conduct. May the protector of Sakya, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, dwelling comfortably in the palace of the high Phya mkhar, strive to fully enter into enlightenment. May this virtue cause the protector of Sakya, together with his ministers, to be free from harming others, and may his dominion and subjects be as vast as the ocean, and may his crown be ever more noble and powerful.' Thus, this extensive explanation of the aspiration of the venerable Maitreya, 'The Door to Entering the Dharma of Maitreya,' was written by the holder of learning from Ü-Tsang, the glorious Shakya Chokden Drime Lekpai Lodrö, in the waxing moon of the Water Rabbit year with auspicious signs, at the Chos 'khor rtse mo monastery, the center of the source of wisdom in Phan yul. The scribe was the spiritual friend Chökyi Gyaltsen. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
