I prostrate to all the Buddhas! The method is as before. Alternatively, these last three verses can summarize the meaning of the previous ones, and in the four directions, etc., combine both the limbs of offering and rejoicing, and combine the first four shlokas, i.e., 'To all the Buddhas,' etc., as limbs of prostration. The second is: May I attain supreme wisdom! Here, supreme wisdom can be explained as the wisdom of the Buddhas, but in that case, it would be repetitive with 'May my Bodhi never be exhausted!' Therefore, it should be combined with the ultimate Bodhicitta. To make the completion of the two accumulations meaningful: Secondly, making the completion of the two accumulations meaningful is divided into three aspects: wishing to quickly attain Buddhahood, then wishing to turn the wheel of Dharma, then wishing that its activities benefit sentient beings, and then wishing not to pass into Nirvana. The first is to plant an encouragement: Where to plant it? In all the Buddha-fields of the ten directions, for the Bodhisattvas who abide on the ten Bhumis, may they quickly attain supreme Buddhahood. Although this directly points to other sentient beings, the main meaning to be expressed is to represent the wisher himself. The second is: May the wheel of Dharma be turned! This is the basis of the explanation. The necessity is: For the benefit of all living beings. The time is after attaining supreme Bodhi and subduing the Maras. Here, both attaining Buddhahood and subduing the Maras are for the Sangha, not subduing the Maras after attaining Buddhahood. If so, as it is said: 'Destroying the Maras is perfection, it is called Bodhi.' This contradicts the scripture, and also contradicts the reason that the Maras have already been subdued at that time. In the praise of the twelve deeds, it is said: 'The six heretical teachers and Devadatta, etc., subdued the Maras in the land of Jambudvipa.' This should not be trusted, because it contradicts the scripture that says the wheel of Dharma is turned after subduing the Maras, and explaining them as Maras cannot be found in any scriptures, contradicting all reasons. For attaining Buddhahood and subduing the Maras, the word 'and' is a mutually inclusive word; while for subduing the Maras and turning the wheel of Dharma, the word 'after' is a word indicating sequence. Therefore, do not think that these two scriptures are the same. The third is, with the great drum of Dharma, with the sound of the drum of Brahma's voice, filling the three sufferings --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May I lead sentient beings suffering from torment to the state of liberation and nirvana. The fourth is to request the Buddha to remain in the world. Who should remain? The Buddha. For how long? For countless eons. In what manner? By teaching the sacred Dharma. Here, the latter two branches can actually be applied to other Bodhisattvas and other Buddhas, but it implies both one's own swift attainment of Buddhahood and remaining in the world for a long time after attaining Buddhahood. The order of these branches is inconsistent with that in the 'Bodhicaryāvatāra', but it must be determined to be so. Just as the order in the 'Bodhicaryāvatāra' is not necessarily so. In the tantra 'Vajra Tent', it also says: 'I take refuge in the Three Jewels, I confess all sins, I rejoice in the merits of beings.' and so on, the order is also like this. The main practice: Praying to attain the state of liberation and omniscience. Thus, after explaining the seven preliminary practices, the main practice is divided into two aspects: praying for liberation and the state of omniscience. That is: praying and wishing for the desired result. First, the two verses request the supreme Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to look upon and remember. Who should they remember? Remember me, who is bound by all afflictions. What are the characteristics of the bondage? Drowning in the mire of desire, being tightly bound by the attachment to the aggregates of desire. Secondly, it is divided into two aspects: merely praying for liberation and praying for perfect Bodhi. The first is: what should be done after looking upon? May those who possess loving-kindness save me from the ocean of samsara. Shouldn't one be compassionate to those beings full of hatred? Because they are the defilements of the mind, those who are controlled by it, the Buddhas do not rebuke them. Therefore, one should be compassionate to them. The second is: May the perfect Buddhas who are now living in the world, and the Buddhas who have already shown the aspect of nirvana, and the future Buddhas, that is, the future Buddhas who will attain Buddhahood before me, I also follow them to learn and practice the perfect Bodhi conduct. Its characteristic is, as it is said in the sutra: 'The various differences of Bodhi conduct vows, from the conduct of Samantabhadra to the attainment of Buddhahood.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
