A Collection of Instructions by the Great Scholar Shakya Chokden skc38, Explanation of the Aspiration Prayer Composed by the Noble Maitreya: The Gate to Entering the Dharma of Maitreya 8-7-1a ༄༅། །Explanation of the Aspiration Prayer Composed by the Noble Maitreya: The Gate to Entering the Dharma of Maitreya ༄། །Homage and Promise to Compose. ༄༅། །Namo, Arya Maitri Natha Ye. Homage to the Noble Maitreya, the Protector). Explanation of the Aspiration Prayer Composed by the Noble Maitreya: The Gate to Entering the Dharma of Maitreya. The mouth of the great teacher, the Buddha Shakyamuni, Vibrant with the vitality of love and compassion, Always with a white smile teaching the sacred Dharma, Radiating light, I prostrate to you. The aspiration prayer made by Maitreya in the past, Now, the teacher, the great Buddha, for many beings, To experience the feast of the supreme vehicle's teachings, What was spoken, I will explain, and also for that reason. Thus, after first making homage and promising to compose, the actual subject matter is explained in three parts: the purpose, the summary, and the meaning of the words. The Purpose First, it is for the complete fulfillment of the conduct of enlightenment. What is its meaning? Thus, there are two types of aspiration prayers of the supreme vehicle: the aspiration prayer of excellent conduct and the aspiration prayer of enlightenment conduct. The first is made by the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. Also known as the Bodhisattva without great desire. Also known as the Bodhisattva Youth Sapa. Wishing to learn only the great conduct of a Bodhisattva until all sentient beings are placed in the state of Buddhahood. The second aspiration prayer, like the son of the Victorious One, Immaculate One, also known as the Bodhisattva with great desire, like the sprout of the Victorious One, like the waxing moon Bodhisattva. Wishing to first become a Buddha oneself and then place all sentient beings in that state. Thus, the most important of the two types of Victorious Ones' sons are, in order, Samantabhadra and Immaculate One. Therefore, these two are widely known as the chief sons of the Victorious One. The Summary Second, the summary meaning is: this text is summarized by two meanings: how Immaculate One made the aspiration prayer in the past, and how the Teacher spoke of the benefits of making such an aspiration. The first part has two points: the aspiration prayer itself, and the dedication that it be accomplished through the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The first point has two parts: first becoming enlightened oneself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
