To place other sentient beings in the position one has attained. Third, to place others in liberation and in omniscience (referring to Buddhahood). The first case is: In this way, having perfected the six pāramitās (generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom), may I first become a Buddha and then work to place sentient beings of the six realms of existence in liberation. The second case is: May sentient beings of the six realms of existence temporarily attain the six abhijñās (supernormal knowledges), and ultimately attain the unsurpassed Bodhi (Sanskrit: Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi). How to practice this aspiration with the integration of view and conduct? Second, how to practice the meaning of the aspiration, there are two ways: through the view of realizing the two selflessnesses (selflessness of person and selflessness of phenomena), and through the practice of the six pāramitās. How to practice the view of the two selflessnesses? Aspiring to realize the selflessness of phenomena. The first part is divided into two aspects: aspiring to realize the selflessness of phenomena, and desiring to realize the selflessness of person. The first point is: May I realize that all dharmas are empty. How is it empty? It is consciousness-only, inner things have no essence, and no things, that is, outer things are also empty of their own essence. Its proof is that neither inner nor outer things are produced in the past, nor will they be produced in the future, nor do they have self-nature in the present, that is, they do not exist, and there is no place to rely on in the three times (past, present, future). Or, placing inner and outer things as the subject, the absence of self-nature is the probandum, and non-arising, non-ceasing, and no place to dwell are the probans, examining the three of arising, abiding, and ceasing, it is the meaning of non-apprehension. Among them, the main explanation of the proof that inner consciousness does not exist can be understood by contemplating the meaning of the great treatises of the Madhyamaka school. If it is established that inner consciousness does not exist, then the non-existence of outer things is also naturally established, because it has already been established that phenomena are mind. Its manner is also as stated in the Ornament of the Sūtras: 'When a Bodhisattva enters into samadhi, except for the expression of mind, all things are not seen.' Desiring to realize the selflessness of person. The second point is: sentient beings, life, person, Pudgala (Sanskrit: Pudgala, meaning 'person' or 'individual'), and self, these are different terms for the same thing, may I realize that each of these dharmas does not exist. What is the way in which these do not exist? The reason for the proof is: the self and the skandhas (the five aggregates: form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness) are neither one nor different. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Phung min phung po las gzhan min. De la phung med de der med. De bzhin gshegs pa phung ldan min.)

different, and possessing dependence and being depended upon, which is the meaning of applying the name 'I'. It cannot be found by the five types of reasoning for seeking, and as an example of knowledge, it is like the Buddha and the great ascetic (drang srong chen po). Buddha and the great ascetic are synonyms for names, and although it can be said that they realized non-self, the effect is not great. Therefore, it can be added 'just as they have no self', or 'just as the great ascetic entered the realm of nirvana without remainder without self'. Moreover, in the realm of no remainder, the cessation of 'self' is the common desire of all internal and external philosophical schools. Regarding the way the Buddha has no self, as stated in the Root Verses on the Middle Way (dBu ma'i rtsa ba): 'Not aggregates, not other than aggregates, there are no aggregates in it, not in it, the Tathagata is not with aggregates.' Its basis of knowledge is that it is easier to negate 'self' in the Buddha than to negate 'self' in sentient beings. Its basis of knowledge is that 'self' and 'sentient beings' are synonyms for names in the world, while 'Tathagata' is established on the state of the exhaustion of sentient beings. When explaining the two types of non-self here, the appearance of 'the Dharma of emptiness' (stong pa'i chos) and 'the Dharma of no self' (bdag ma mchis pa'i chos) is to eliminate the interpretation of the meaning of the two types of non-self as 'negative negation', but to show 'negation of what is not this'. Both the Ornament of the Sutras (mDo sde'i rgyan) and the Treatise on the Buddha-Nature (rGyud bla ma) explain the meaning of emptiness as 'negation of what is not this', and it is also consistent with the interpretation of the Meaning of the Ornament of Clear Realization (mNgon rtogs rgyan) by Arya Asanga ('Phags seng). The way to practice the six perfections (pāramitā) The second part is divided into two parts: a general explanation of the purity of the three circles and an explanation of the six perfections individually. The first part: 'Without stinginess, please give alms!' (Ser sna ma mchis sbyin gtong shog) This sentence applies to all six perfections, such as 'Without pretense, please keep the precepts!' (Tshul 'chad ma mchis khrims bsrungs shog) and so on. How to understand it? Through the difference of wisdom, not dwelling on internal things, and through attachment, not dwelling on all external things, in order to benefit all sentient beings with the difference of means. The second part is divided into six aspects, the first of which is how to give alms without stinginess? It is shown through the difference between the conventional and the ultimate: May my alms become the Dharma to be given, and whatever material and fearless enjoyment, may it be naturally accomplished. What kind of enjoyment? 'Things non-things' (dngos po dngos po ma mchis pa'i), meaning empty of self-nature in the ultimate sense. Therefore, from the perspective of the two truths --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
