The purpose is to dispel the darkness of ignorance for all beings. Thus, through this fifth branch (Anumodana), the faults dependent on afflictive ignorance are purified, and the roots of virtue free from delusion are increased. Praying to Remain Always: The sixth branch, Praying Not to Pass into Nirvana: I pray, for how many eons should one remain? One should remain for as many eons as there are dust particles in all the worlds. For whom should one remain? One should remain for those who come from the ten directions and wish to show the aspect of Nirvana. The purpose is to bring ultimate benefit to all helpless beings and to bring temporary happiness. By whom is it prayed? By me. In what way is it prayed? By placing both knees on the ground and joining the palms together. Here, 'Nirvana' refers to the contaminated aggregates, and 'transcendence' refers to death and rebirth. Like the Shravakas, attaining the Nirvana without remainder. Thus, through this sixth branch, the faults of the Hinayana's mental activity and dependence on it are purified. The accumulation of merit that is dedicated by these has been explained. Dedication of the accumulated merit with the aspiration of ultimate complete enlightenment and temporary Samantabhadra's conduct: The second part, dedicating the accumulated roots of virtue with the aspiration of Samantabhadra's conduct, is divided into three parts: briefly stating the essence, explaining the categories in detail, and concluding with the extent and benefits of the aspiration. Briefly stating the essence: First is the dedication: To where is it dedicated? It is dedicated to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. By whom is it done? By me, who has just accumulated merit. For what purpose? For the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings. What is dedicated? All the small amount of virtue that I have accumulated. And what is that? It is the virtue of prostrating to and making offerings to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, confessing sins in their presence, rejoicing in all good deeds, urging the turning of the wheel of Dharma, and praying not to pass into Nirvana, that is, these six sections. This also shows the aspiration to generate the supreme Bodhicitta, because its essence does not go beyond these. Explaining the categories in detail: Aspiring to perfect the great conduct of the Bodhisattvas, maturing sentient beings: The second part is explaining the categories in detail, the author of the commentary is... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If we summarize the sixteen divisions of aspirations, they can be condensed into two: aspiring to perfect the great conduct of Bodhisattvas, and aspiring to perfect all the qualities of the Buddhas. The first is further divided into extensive aspirations and concise aspirations. The extensive aspirations are divided into three: maturing sentient beings, purifying Buddha-fields, and fulfilling aspirations. The first (maturing sentient beings) is divided into three: according to the power of mindfulness, according to the power of action, and according to the power of both. The first (according to the power of mindfulness) is divided into two: according to the power of superior intention, and according to the power of not forgetting the mind of Bodhi. According to the power of intention: According to the power of superior intention: The first is divided into three: offering to the Tathagatas and fulfilling their intentions, perfecting Buddha-fields, and benefiting and bringing happiness to all sentient beings. The first is divided into two: the intention to offer to the Buddhas of the past and present, and the intention to fulfill the intentions of the Buddhas of the future. The first is: May it become an offering! With what offering? With the supreme offering. To whom is the offering made? To the Buddhas of the past who have already shown the way to Nirvana, and to those who are now in the ten directions of the world, who have not yet shown that way. The second is: Please come! Where to come? To gradually attain enlightenment and become a Buddha. How to attain enlightenment? By fulfilling all intentions, that is, by perfecting the two accumulations. How to come? Quickly. Who comes? Those who have not yet become Buddhas, the sons of the Buddhas who have not yet attained Buddhahood. The second is: May it be completely pure! Where to purify? All the Buddha-fields in the ten directions. How to purify? Vast and boundless, without limitation. In short, may it be like the Sukhavati, vast and completely pure in essence. This is aspiring to purify various Buddha-fields. Then there is aspiring to purify the sentient world: May it be completely filled! Filled with what? The Buddhas and their retinues, that is, the sons of the Buddhas. Where to fill? Before the Bodhi tree throne. How to fill? In the manner of their going and coming. The third is: the intention of happiness and the intention of benefit. The first is: May it become victorious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
